Due to the high wind warning now in effect until 8am this morning Nutrition Services will not be having a morning meal service at school. Nutrition Service will be serving two-day meal kits from 11:30m-12:30 pm today only. No 7:30am-8:00am service.
The Orchard Elementary Food Scrap Drop Off will be CLOSED tomorrow Wednesday, 27th due to predicted showers and high winds. The site will resume next Wednesday, February 3rd from 11:30-12:30 PM and will continue every Wednesday until February 17th. Don’t forget that your name will be entered into a $100 grocery store gift card raffle every time you drop off food scraps! Our new Food Scrap Drop Off site at Orchard Elementary collected 61 POUNDS of food waste on Wednesday that will be turned into compost at the Truitt Park Community Garden. Keep bringing your food scraps to Orchard Elementary between 11:30-12:30 pm every Wednesday until February 10th! Did you know that every time you drop off food scraps, your name will also be entered into a raffle for a $100 grocery store gift card? How does it work? ... 1. Fill a paper or plastic bag with food scraps. 2. We empty it into our food waste barrel 3. You enter your name into our $100 grocery store gift card raffle. 4. We bring the food waste to a local community garden to be turned into compost. What can you bring? 1. Fruit and vegetable scraps 2. Coffee ground and filters (no k-cups, please!) 3. Loose tea leaves and bags 4. Dead house plants
**IMPORTANT - Change in Morning Meal Service Time** Due to safety concerns for our staff & rolling back the clocks Sunday Nov. 1st, starting Monday, November 2nd, our morning meal service time will be shortened to 7:30am - 8:00am. Our School Meals 2 Go program will continue to offer two meal service times. Monday - Friday 7:30am - 8:00am & 11:30am - 12:30pm.... School Meals 2 Go will continue to be offered at all current school sites throughout the district until distance learning ends. We ask families to visit only one meal service time and site per day. Only one meal kit per child, per day. School Meals 2 Go is available to all children and teens 18 years and younger and includes the following meals, Breakfast, Lunch, and Supper. This has been our most successful week yet having served nearly 150,000 meals! Together we can keep making that number grow! Our School Meals 2 Go program is offered free of charge to all children and teens 18 years and younger. Here is a list of 10 reasons why families with children 18 years and younger would benefit from our School Meals 2 Go program.
Health and nutrition shouldn’t take a break over the weekends, which is why we are expanding our Curbside School Meals 2 Go Program to provide weekend meals starting this Friday, September 18th! Every Friday, meal distribution will be increased to include two additional days of food at no charge for each child under the age of 18.
