"It had been two years since I had been to the dentist for a checkup so I had a little bit of anxiety coming into my appointment. The anxiety quickly went away when I met the dental hygienist June. June was efficient and gentle with my cleaning. She triple checks all of her work to ensure that it is perfect. June made x-rays very comfortable as well. The dentist, Dr. Le, addresses concerns efficiently and only recommends.." says mischa on Google

While regular brushing is great for your dental health, it’s rarely enough. Neglecting to floss may mean that you miss the plaque that builds up between your teeth or along your gum line. If plaque isn’t removed, it will eventually harden into a rough substance called tartar, which can only be removed by your dentist. You should floss, but you might just have to if you eat any of the foods below on a regular basis. And, come onis there anything more satisfying than FINALL...Y getting that piece of food stuck between your teeth? *** Truly Yours Family Dental 619.461.7700 #LaMesa #TrulyYoursFamilyDental #SanDiegoDentist #Family #619dentist #dentist #dentist92119 #nodrill #solealaser #selfcare See more

Delicious popped, and tasty on or off the cob. And yet, that pesky rascal just has a way of getting into your teeth and staying there. While #corn off the cob certainly has a way of wedging itself into your teeth (silk strings, anyone?), perhaps the worst culprit is the popped stuff. In addition to leaving behind scraps of starch, the kernel pieces that wedge themselves between your molars can be downright impossible to get out. Sometimes kernels can even lodge themselves ben...eath the gum line, which draws in bacteria and may precipitate gum disease. Keeping some #floss or picks on hand is a great way to rid your teeth of those stubborn pieces once and for all. & ! #Supportlocal *** Truly Yours Family Dental 619.461.7700 #LaMesa #TrulyYoursFamilyDental #SanDiegoDentist #Family #619dentist #dentist #dentist92119 #nodrill #solealaser #selfcare See more

A recent survey shows that as many as 37% of high school seniors and more than 17% of eighth-graders vaped in the previous year. Nicotine can lead to gum disease and tooth loss. Not only does nicotine restrict blood flow to the gums, it also affects our mouth’s natural ability to fight infection and replenish connective tissue, leading to a higher risk of gum disease and tooth loss. Propylene glycol is toxic to enamel and soft tissue. One of the main ingredients in vape ...juice is propylene glycol (PG), which is safe to eat and inhale but when used orally breaks down into acids that damage enamel, and propionaldehyde, which irritates soft tissue. PG also causes dry mouth, taking away essential saliva, leading to cavities and gum disease. Vegetable glycerin and flavorings help bacteria stick to (already soft) teeth. Vegetable glycerin (VG) is a slightly sticky liquid sweetener that helps Streptococcus mutans to stick to grooves on the biting surfaces of teeth. In addition, when mixed with the flavorings that draw teens to enjoy vaping, the combination causes four times as many microbes to stick to teeth and double the growth of biofilm. Flavorings also decrease the hardness of tooth enamel by 27%. Lithium batteries pose a risk of overheating and explosions. & ! # *** Truly Yours Family Dental 619.461.7700 #LaMesa #TrulyYoursFamilyDental #SanDiegoDentist #Family #619dentist #dentist #dentist92119 #nodrill #solealaser #selfcare See more

November is National Diabetes Month, so we wanted to take a moment to address the specific dental concerns and needs of patients with diabetes. Self-advocacy and self-care is the priority for anyone with health concerns, and diabetes is no exception. Preventing Gum Disease as a Diabetic Good oral health is critical for general health, whether or not you have diabetes. Following these guidelines will help you, and your mouth, teeth, and gums to stay healthy: ~ Brush your teeth... twice a day for two full minutes. Tilt your brush towards your gum-line and brush in a circular motion. ~ Floss daily ~ Rinse daily with an ADA approved mouthwash ~ Consider chewing sugar-free gum to increase saliva levels ~ See your dentist twice a year for check-ups, more often if you are experiencing pain or have dental concerns *** Before your appointment: ~ Maintain a healthy blood glucose level ~ Eat healthy and as normal before your appointment ~ Take your medication ~ Talk to your dentist about any medications you are taking and if they have changed ~ Bring your blood testing supplies ~ Let your dentist know if you feel unstable from low blood glucose levels ~ Make your appointment in the morning ~ Talk to your dentist about any concerns related to procedures that could affect your blood sugar levels (such as fasting for a procedure or not being able to eat after one) & ! # *** Truly Yours Family Dental 619.461.7700 #LaMesa #TrulyYoursFamilyDental #SanDiegoDentist #Family #619dentist #dentist #dentist92119 See more

Many kids (and kids at heart) look forward to Halloween. It’s the time of the year when all sorts of candies and other treats are handed out freely. During this spooky season of fun and treats, we want to ensure that you and your family’s oral health is well-taken care of. ~ Brushing and flossing your teeth are one of the simplest yet important ways of keeping your teeth and gums healthy. ~ Pick a treat or two ~ Make your own sugar-free treats... The two types of bacteria that are destructive in your mouth feed on sugar. They form a dental plaque, a sticky, colorless film on the surface of your teeth. ~ Drink plenty of water Drinking water, especially a fluorinated one, is one of the most beneficial things you can do to prevent tooth decay. . & ! # *** Truly Yours Family Dental 619.461.7700 #LaMesa #TrulyYoursFamilyDental #SanDiegoDentist #Family #619dentist #dentist #dentist92119 #halloween See more

Science today is teaching us that the mouth is not a closed system, but one connected to the rest of our body. The health of our mouth is affected by the health of our body and vice versa. Gum disease is a bacterial infection in the mouth and the same bacteria can travel through the bloodstream and put our entire health at risk. When the health of our mouth deteriorates through decay or gum disease, it may put our general health in jeopardy, particularly if we have additional... risk factors. By making this critical connection between what goes on in our mouth and the rest of our body, we are taking the first step toward optimal health. & ! # *** Truly Yours Family Dental 619.461.7700 #LaMesa #TrulyYoursFamilyDental #SanDiegoDentist #Family #619dentist #dentist #dentist92119 #healthy #momslife #selfcare See more

If you have ever stood in the toothbrush aisle at the store, you know that there are a lot of choices. Toothbrushes come in all different styles, angles, brush head shapes, bristles and more. It can be difficult to know what is best for your teeth. A stiff bristled brush can hurt your gums by scratching the tissue and it can wear down tooth enamel. A soft bristled brush will allow you to push hard enough to clean your teeth, but not so hard that you wi...ll damage your teeth or gums. If the head of your toothbrush is too big to adequately fit into your mouth it won’t be able to reach and clean the teeth in the back of your mouth, where bacteria is more likely to thrive. While it’s easy to think that more pressure equals a better clean, the opposite is more likely to be true. Brushing too hard can cause damage to your tooth enamel leading to sensitive teeth and gums. Changing your toothbrush every 3-4 months can help you maintain good mouth health as well. You also want to change your toothbrush after any time you’ve had a cold to avoid any cross contamination. ! If you’re looking to help encourage a child to brush their teeth regularly, the easiest way is to make it fun for them. Allowing kids to choose their own manual or powered toothbrush with a design or character that helps them see brushing as a fun task is worth it. Studies have shown that the pulsing and vibration of an electric toothbrush remove plaque much better than a standard manual one. ! & ! # *** Truly Yours Family Dental 619.461.7700 #LaMesa #TrulyYoursFamilyDental #SanDiegoDentist #Family See more
