Hello Warriors! Here’s a message from Kyra Deters, a Troy graduate, about her Cyber experience. Her words speak volumes about the impact Troy and the Troy cyber community have on students in the program. CyberPatriot Impact:... Troy’s cyber program has been immensely beneficial for me. In early high school, it provided a fun after-school activity where I could easily make friends. It made me realize that I really enjoyed cyber security, and I later realized that I would enjoy computer networking even more. It was a great way to narrow down the career path I wanted without having to waste time in college. I continued to put in lots of time and hard work, and I ended up going to nationals twice (resulting in a scholarship on one occasion). I also became the team co-commander for my senior year. In addition to the cyber security and networking skills I learned, I also learned invaluable leadership and teamwork skills that I can apply to both college and future jobs. After high school, I found that knowledge from CyberPatriot was applicable to many of my college courses. I was also able to get a part-time job teaching Cisco networking purely because of my work at Troy. The middle schoolers and high schoolers that I’m teaching are now competing in CyberPatriot. Of all the things I did in high school, joining the cyber team easily had the largest long-term impact. See more

For coming cyber camp: Thank you all for your patience. We competed with 4 teams in the high school nationals cybersecurity competition last weekend and finished 3rd overall. YAY!!! That has been our focus for the past month, so I apologize for all of those who are waiting for their summer camp confirmations.... WE WILL HOLD A CYBER CAMP. The camps will be online/virtual. It will likely be the ONLY summer camp offered by Troy HS this summer. There will be no athletic or band camps. We are still looking at July 20-24 for the advanced camp and July 27-31 for all of the other camps. YOU MAY REQUEST A REFUND if you have already paid for your camp. WE SHOULD HAVE MORE DETAILS after May 12. I have literally been in national discussions on what virtual cybersecurity summer camps should look like. Thank you again for your patience and support of Troy Cyber! Congratulations to our 3 NJROTC teams and one OPEN division team who competed at CyberPatriot XII Nationals this weekend! Having seen the competition up close and personal, all I can say is, I am very proud of all of you! You competed under a lot of stress - one parent commented that it was like watching you "diffusing many bombs at the same time" - but you showed teamwork, grit, excellent problem-solving skills, leadership, honesty, and integrity! Can't be prouder! Congratulations!!!
