On Friday, we started removing the old roof on the church in preparation for a new one, and new walls were built in the Parish Hall to replace the moving partitions. The moving partitions were not soundproof, and particularly as our Sunday School program grew, this was a real problem. We won’t be able to open these rooms up for large events any longer, but we’ll be making it up and getting even more space by removing the stage and incorporating that space into the main hall. #trinityfolsom #norcalepiscopal #episcopal #forgodandforneighbor

Parishioner Annika, who has also been one of our nursery attendants for the past two years, met up with Fr. Todd today for prayer and a blessing. Annika, who graduated from Rio Americano HS this spring and signed up for the Marines, reports on Sunday for transport to Parris Island for boot camp. The Lord bless you and keep you, Annika! Scaffolding went up in the church on Monday to begin working on the walls and ceiling, and all the windows were removed, too. The wooden frames of the windows, which we’re pretty sure are from 1862, will be repaired and restored, and the glass, probably mid-20th century, will be replaced with clear hammered glass. #trinityfolsom #norcalepiscopal #episcopal #forgodandforneighbor #folsom #historicfolsom

7:30am parishioners Jonathan & Quinlan, who spend part of the year in Mexico, sent us these great pics of All Saints'/All Souls'/Dia de Muertos. The first is the altar at St. Paul's Anglican Church in San Miguel de Allende; our parishes have been developing a relationship, and a team from Trinity Folsom visited them in January - we hope that post-pandemic, there will be many more visits! The second is J & Q's ofrenda, and the next two are sights around San Miguel de Allende: calaveras, La Catrina, and marigolds. SMUD came out this week and removed the utility pole from the new courtyard between the Parish Hall and Children’s Building, meaning that we can regrade and start pouring ramps and sidewalks. We’re pretty excited because it took a surprising amount of time and energy to get this done (though SMUD was great, thanks SMUD!). When finished, the courtyard will be slightly smaller (there will be parking spots and a waste enclosure on the alley side), but you can see from these pics how much new space we’ll have for receptions and coffee hour outside, and a play area for children! #trinityfolsom #norcalepiscopal #episcopal #forgodandforneighbor

These aerial photos show well how much space we’re reorganizing and reclaiming. For a long time, this space was occupied by a parish hall; it was torn down in 1995 (it was in bad shape) and replaced with sacristies, closets, a bathroom, and other support areas. Those two square cutouts, where the dirt ends and the plywood begins, are where the posts of the arched wall are moving. #trinityfolsom #norcalepiscopal #episcopal #forgodandforneighbor
