-Water lawsuit update- New deadline for all homeowners to respond to the City’s water lawsuit is October 30th. The City of Ventura - Government paid its lawyers more money to file paperwork and go to Court yesterday. They told the Judge they needed more time to serve the 12k residents the City chose to sue. Judge said ok. Get the people served and then they have until October 30th to respond. ... The City has a new lawyer on the case now too. Word is the City threw their old BBK lawyer under the bus bc this turned into such a quagmire. Remember the Matilija meeting disaster. That was the last time the City and politicians appeared in public w/o a PR firm protecting them. The City is scared of trial and the people too. The City career politicians that voted to sue 12k people know they made a bad decision. That’s why the City’s marketing company keeps crafting those carefully worded press releases saying the City is not actively litigating. They want you to think they are not wasting your taxpayer money. We know better. We know the City should have never sued the people in the first place. The City politicians will soon admit it, now that the truth is exposed. But (and there’s always a but), the politicians won’t and can’t dismiss the case bc they already wasted 5 million dollars of taxpayer money. Don’t buy the fancy Press Releases. Since January through August 7, 2020, the City of Ventura - Government has paid Mustang Marketing $57,022.01 for this litigation. In other words, the City has spent 8k per month of your taxpayer money on a marketing company to generate newspaper ads claiming the City was in bold print NOT PURSUING ACTIVE LITIGATION.... The cost of inactive litigation?... Since 2014 through August 7, 2020, the City has paid the following amounts to BBK (the Walnut Creek lawyers it hired to sue its own people): Attorneys’ fees: $2,263,080.80 Expert fees: $2,135,884.36 Other costs: $237,651.66 (creating a website and serving parties) Even through a Public Records Act Request was made by a citizen for the lawyer and marketing contracts, the City refuses to produce any documents [b]ecause your request asks for documents that are exempt from disclosure...(insert lawyer speak here) Total costs spent by the City inactively litigating against 12,000 Ventura County residents: $4,693,638.83 Total amount of money the City caused other people to pay other lawyers: way too much Total ground gained by the City: 0 Trees wasted: lots Meetings had: too many Politicians booted from ofc bc of this disaster: none People pissed off: lots Wake up and do something about it: [email protected]

This just breaks my heart, I can’t even... Said Dan Beasley this morning standing with Reece McCalister and I at the entrance to the Punch Bowls. Dan was born in the two story house less than 200 yards from the PB entrance. Reece and I were lucky enough to spend the morning w him hearing stories that started off w when I was a kid.... I loved it. ... We also loved the honks and waves of people who appreciate the effort. And, a special thank you to the car load of guys honking at us and flipping us off. Water Update I’ve been working behind the scenes. I’ve been told the City of Ventura is going to file a document on Monday asking the Court for another extension of time for homeowners to answer moving the date from September to October. The City of Ventura - Government and the politicians that chose to sue you are running scared bc they know they screwed up by wasting 5M of taxpayer money on Walnut Creek lawyers to sue 12k Ventura residents they claim to represent. The ...politicians are scared bc they know we are gearing up to help you. They know we’ve got top notch real trial lawyers ready to go toe to toe w their overpaid Walnut Creek lawyers. The District’s (Casitas) existing water rates are insufficient to offset the legal costs associated with this defense (of being sued by the City of Ventura) and therefore [t]he District is proposing the following annual charges for all customers.... Been getting messages re water lawsuit lately. Yes, I am on top of it. I am putting together a team of lawyers to represent the homeowners my former opponent and the City of Ventura chose to sue.... We may seek to certify a class action of defendants and counter sue the City of Ventura - Government. We stand up to bullies.
