SPCA trainers are big proponents of doing a little bit of training every day. Simple tricks, useful behaviors like retrieving dropped keys, or just fun things you like to work on are all valuable tools for your dog's enrichment. Here Wendi shows you some of Delta's training props. In the following weeks she will take you through some of the things they do everyday. Sometimes your dog may surprise you! https://youtu.be/mg4_K_PqU4I

What was the last thing you taught your dog to do? Was it a trick, or something that was functional? I know we all do not take endless classes or work with our dogs everyday. Our lives are busy, and we have extra challenges right now because of COVID restrictions. But just a tiny bit of work with your dog everyday might make a huge difference for both of you. My girl is 10.5 years old, and I noticed a few years back she didn't participate in much and she seemed bored. I inst...ituted a regular, short training session with her everyday, and this did wonders for her thought processes and her interest in me and my activities. Our sessions are very short, and on most days, she asks for them by laying next to the drawer that holds treats and props. Over the next few weeks, I will share some of the simple things we do everyday. I want you to see how easy and quick the training is, and hopefully inspire you to come up with some routines of your own! - Wendi

With wildfire surrounding us, please pay attention to your pets. Birds are particularly sensitive to poor air quality, and should be inside. For outside pets, make sure any outside water bowls are refreshed frequently, and observe for signs of distress. -Stay inside with your windows closed -Limit walks with your dogs -Dry brush them off before bringing them inside ... If your pets are having trouble breathing, have eye or nasal discharge, or are not feeling well, please contact your vet. Stay safe!
