One year ago today Tonya Petchel passed away from a blood clot while courageously fighting cancer. Today Tonya's Law is about to be presented as a California Bill to help all cancer patients. If you or someone you know is fighting cancer, be sure their doctor has tested the DNA of the cancer and treatments such as Molecular Targeted Therapy and/or Immunotherapy are available. On this memorial weekend, Tonya's family attended the UC San Diego Body Donation Memorial Service honoring Tonya's gift to hundreds of young medical students. It is estimated that the graduating class who Tonya helped educate after death will treat over 12 million patients in an average 40 year career! Tonya wanted her cancer fight to help others and wanted her body donated to UCSD School of Medicine. Tonya Petchel passed away on January 24, 2017 as a result of a blood clot. This video was filmed just a couple weeks before her death and you can see she was doing very well. The DNA based Molecular Targeted Therapy was working and she was scheduled for immunotherapy which had the potentia...l to cure her cancer. Tonya's Law likely would have saved Tonya's life because she would have known and received DNA based treatments over a year earlier when she was first diagnosed and in the best shape of her life.
