Just got done dealing with a email scam targeting Architects / Designers. Watch out for unsolicited requests for residential work. Make sure the person who claims to be the owner is actualy the owner.....

There is an email scam going on targeting Architects. It starts with an email from someone wanting a home designed. They have a pretty clear idea of what they want and also a projected budget (around $2 mil.) Once you send them the design agreement and a request for the deposit, they say there is a problem paying their surveyor, so they want you to bill them an additional 40k. Once the money is supposidly in your account, they want you to send a cashiers check for 25K to their surveyor.........riiiiight.....What I should have done first was check the address to see if they were the owner. Anyhow, I didn't fall for it..... Wouldn't you know, just 4 hours later someone else called me with the exactly same story...........
