Tony Vincent has teamed up with PCG Theatrical to help young artists develop their musical theater careers! Have a look!
Many of you know that I am in TN right now. I spent an hour with the head of PCG Artist Development Company yesterday and I am thrilled to announce that I have joined their team and Tony Vincent to grow and develop this new leg, PCG Theatrical. I am beyond excited about working with Tony and this excellent artist development company to bring to you, my beloved students, an opportunity to attain your performance goals and dreams. More details to follow as I get on board with this company. I have a meeting tomorrow to further flesh out details. You guys. This is epic. Watch this video.
This is from my teacher. He is a master and this is so true!!
For all you actors out there....CLASSIC play directed by the awesome Michael Ross!
I LOVE what Eric Whitacre has to say about singing, but more importantly, SINGING IN A GROUP, with other people. Short 3:00 minute video. Have a watch! AND SING TODAY!
This applies to any discipline. It doesn't have to be hours a day. 10-15 minutes of concentrated vocal practice REGULARLY will make a HUGE difference in muscle memory. SING!
TLM Vocal Training will be open normal hours this week. The studio has an air purifier. There will also be masks available for you to take with you. I have heard from one of my performing students that she has gotten ill from the smoke and did not have a mask. If you are performing please get a mask (I have a bunch) to wear indoors and outdoors when you are not performing, especially if you are sensitive.
Santa Rosa Update and TLM Vocal Training this week.
The studio will be closed tomorrow as the fire condition in Santa Rosa is tenuous. We will advise daily as to the rest of this week. Praying for all of Santa Rosa.
"I can't sing." This is such a lie! Have a look and listen!
Observation after having broken my dominant wrist: PSA: Fascinating to watch my right forearm muscle disappear as my right wrist has become immobile. Such an amazing demonstration of how in just 4 weeks of no movement the atrophy is there. Now, imagine not working your voice for singing at all over a four week period (or more) and then you have an audition or show and all of a sudden the voice is exhausted and it is almost lost during tech week or your nerves in an audition take over the function of your voice because the voice has not been limbered up and strengthened. Bottom line: If you want to excel at and be at your peak when opportunities arise, you cannot CRAM. Gotta put in the training and work WELL ahead of time so that when opportunity knocks, you don't have to CRAM. :)
Excellent blog post about Adele's current vocal health. Good training can help stave off vocal injury, but when a vocal athlete is injured, shaming serves no good for anyone. Have a read! https://growvoiceblog.com//on-adele-and-the-myth-of-techn/
GREAT question about the affect of changes in hormones on the voice, in females particularly. GREAT answer by Dr. Reena Gupta! How do hormones affect the voice? Specifically what is the effect of birth control, monthly changes and post-menopausal hormone replacement therapy? http://www.ohniww.org/hormones-affect-voice/
