It is with tremendous sadness that we share the news that Landrin Kelly passed away this Monday. Twelve years ago, Landrin’s son Terrance was murdered days before leaving for the University of Oregon. In the wake of this unimaginable tragedy, Landrin and Mary Kelly chose to honor their son in a remarkable way through a foundation that would help young men and women believe in themselves and rise above the violence. Their decision forever changed thousands of lives. For over... a decade, Landrin conveyed love to the young men and women he met and the belief that they could be more than their circumstances. Lamar Harris was one of the original participants in the foundation’s programs and is now a group leader and board member. He showed me what it is to push past adversity, he showed me how to serve the community, he trusted me. He saw a leader in me that at the time I didn't know I was. Landrin often told people that if I can save one life, it will have all been worth it. We at the foundation will always be grateful for our time with him and for his heroic service to his community. Like his son Terrance, Landrin’s light will continue to inspire long after he has gone.
