When life gets busy or when things are going smoothly, it's easy to put God to the side. We start focusing on our own matters and fail to realize when God's temple falls into disrepair. God's temple can represent the church as well as our hearts. In Haggai 1, God's people pursue a lot for themselves but do not gain much in the end. God tells them to go to the mountains for wood to build His temple instead. For us, the mountains represent church and the wood is the word of God.... Let's build up the temple of God and repair our relationship with Him. God promises that when we return to Him, He will return to us. Sometimes our hearts slowly harden to the point that we don't feel God's love anymore. May God soften our hearts and open our eyes to see how He loves us in every moment. Even if we are far from God now, we can take small steps to pursue to know Him and His love. Let's have faith that He will return and embrace us. #Bible #Christianity #God #Jesus #Christian #devotional #churchlife #pray #prayerworks #godcares #church #tjc #truejesuschurch

The parable of the sower teaches us the importance of hearing, understanding, accepting, and doing the words of God in order to be saved. This leads us to reflect on how deeply we understand the Bible. Sometimes we read a passage and understand the events at a surface level, but do we understand the spiritual teachings behind them and how we can apply those teachings in our lives? Jesus said this pertaining to the Pharisees: "For the hearts of this people have grown dull. The...ir ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them. (Mt 13:15). Even though the Pharisees were physical Israelites, spiritually they were outsiders who shut their hearts and ears, who could not understand God's teachings. Today, are our hearts and ears dull to God's teachings? Are our eyes blind to His will? We must turn to the Lord and ask Him to heal us. Jesus has taught us through this parable also how to correctly interpret the Bible, so that we can fully benefit from the good words. We cannot not reap full benefits from the Bible if we do not understand it correctly. #listening #hearing #attentive #heart #eyes #open #turningpoint #God #Bible #scripture #Godswords #humility #reap #benefits #goodness #understanding #truejesuschurch #devotional

In and Out John 10:9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. . A door is a means to enter in somewhere- be it a shelter or your house. And here, Jesus Christ is our door and allows us to enter in to find safety and security in Him (Is 26:20). At the same time, He is also the shepherd that leads us sheep out to pasture. When we decide to go out of shelter and into the pasture, we can still find protection if we recogn...ize His voice and follow Him closely (Ps 121:8; Deut 28:6) . If we have Him as our door, what do we need to fear? Because when He leads us in and out, we can find protection in any life's circumstances. May we continue to have Jesus Christ as our door so our life may be abundant in Him. #Biblesharing #bibleverse #biblereflection #biblemeditation #bible #Christian #faith #John #JesusChrist #door #pasture #sheep #shepherd #meditate #christianity

What are you doing here? This is the question that God repeatedly asked Elijah after he famously prayed for fire on Mt. Carmel to persuade the Israelites of who the true God was, and subsequently fled in fear from Jezebel to the wilderness. By asking this question, God was trying to help Elijah out of the cave he was physically, spiritually, and mentally confining himself in. Elijah's answer to God reveals where he was stuck in his perspective. First he prayed, "I am no bet...ter than my fathers," and then he said, "I have been very zealous for the Lord...I alone am left, and they seek to take my life." Perhaps Elijah was thinking of Moses and Joshua, who lead the Israelites out of Egypt and conquered the land of Canaan respectively. But despite his preaching and miracles, the Israelites continued to forsake God and worship idols. It seemed like all of his efforts and zeal were in vain, and thus he felt discouraged and useless. In our servitude we may relate to Elijah's frustration and question whether it is even worth doing. To help Elijah get out of this rut, God caused a great wind, earthquake, and fire to pass by. These displays of power could symbolize the kind of service we aspire to have - mighty and glorious, an assumed sign of God's abidance. But notably, God was not among any of them, and therein lies where we, like Elijah, may get stuck when we don't see such results - God's abidance is the still, small voice of God telling us what to do. What God values most from us is our obedience, not the perceivable outcomes. Therefore, let us quiet our hearts so that we can hear His voice, because if we can hear it and obey, that means God is with us. #Bible #Elijah #God #Jesus #Christian #devotional #churchlife #servitude #prayer #holywork #discipleship #sabbath #worship #encouragement

How were Gideon and only 300 men able to defeat the entire camp of Midian's army? In Judges 7:16-21, we see how their reliance on God won them the battle. The fight is always in God's hands, and He delivered the entire Midianite camp to the small Israelite army. Each Israelite carried a trumpet and an empty pitcher with a torch inside to the camp of Midian. Following after Gideon, the Israelites blew their trumpets and broke their pitchers, holding the torches and shouting o...ut to declare the Lord's and Gideon's sword. Trumpets proclaimed the presence of God and today represent preaching the gospel. The pitchers represent us since we are also vessels made of the earth. Breaking the pitchers represents self-denial. We need to deny ourselves and be willing to sacrifice in order to preach and let the light of the torch, representing the Holy Spirit and God, shine out of the pitcher. All of the Israelites also stood in their place, working together and standing firm in on the foundation of God's promise. The Midianites fled, and God set their swords against each other. Let's keep the representations of the trumpet, pitcher, and torch in mind as we fight spiritual battles today. #Bible #Christianity #God #Jesus #Christian #devotional #churchlife #pray #prayerworks #godcares #church #tjc #truejesuschurch #biblestudy #sermonnotes

This year, our church has set A Life of Prayer as a theme. The purpose is to encourage members to establish a habit of sincere prayer to rise to the challenges that our faith and ministry are encountering as a result of the pandemic (e.g. inability to fellowship in person, obstacles to evangelism and pastoring, increased mental stress and anxiety especially for families and students, declining faith as youth spend more time on social media and entertainment at home, the lis...t goes on). The first month of the year has already passed. Let us keep up our determination in drawing closer to God and persisting in prayer, and encourage one another in faith and love. Praying together is a great way to hold each other accountable and experience spiritual growth! #prayer #lifeofprayer #truejesuschurch #faith #spirituality #christian #christianliving #dailyprayer

In the book of Luke, a certain man prepared a great feast. When suppertime came, he freely invited many to come join him. However, every single one who was invited turned down the invitation by making excuses and prioritizing their worldly lives. In the end, those who rejected the invitation lost the chance to be filled by the great feast. ... Today Jesus has called us to come join His spiritual feast, to partake of His word and the blessings through prayer and His Spirit. It’s up to us to decide whether to pursue righteousness, peace, and joy by making the effort to join this banquet, or to be blinded by the temporary cares of this world. #bible #verse #bibleverse #prayer #christian #Jesusfirst #worship #faith #trust #journey #Christ #love #joy #peace #patience #kindness #goodness #faithfulness #gentleness #selfcontrol #biblejournaling #feast #food

When we hear the word "gospel, we think of the New Testament. But did you know that the same gospel was preached to the Israelites in the Old Testament? More than 3,000 years ago, God preached the gospel to Abraham and the Israelites. In Exodus 6:6-9, God spoke through Moses, promising that: 1. God will deliver people from the bondage of slavery and sin 2. He will be our God and we will become His own special people ... 3. He will lead us to the promised land and heavenly kingdom But not everyone who heard the good news benefited from it because they did not believe in it. Many did not want to leave Egypt because they did not believe in God's promises. "For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it." (Heb 4:2). In order for the gospel to benefit us today, we must have faith and meditate on the importance and value of God's promises. In order for us to receive God's promises, we have to actively apply His words in our lives and pursue them. It is not enough to only know the gospel and what we need to do to obtain God's promises, we must also combine it with faith and take action. #gospel #salvation #promises #God #faith #words #action #believe #christianliving #Bible #devotion #sermon #truejesuschurch #inspiration See more
