Been a long day. 3 full sets, 9 half sets. Hello weekend!

Tim's Horseshoeing 03.11.2020

Busy weekend! I want to thank the Norco Horse Affaire for having us out to host the Farriers Corner and show the products, educational resources and skill development available to today's modern professional Farrier. It was a huge success, but not without help. A huge thanks to Joe Novy and all his help for all three days and a big thanks to all of my help who gave me their most precious resource, time, to help promote our profession! Jason Dahl, Alex Garcia, Shawn and Summer Pepper, Chris Alger, Ken Lyon, John Harrison and Mario Leon. I would also like to thank our sponsors, Canoga Farrier Supply, The Shoein' Shop and Kahn Forge and the American Farriers Association.

As I start my Monday, the horse is in the cross ties, I feel a renewed energy toward my job. I just finished with one of the most satisfying weeks of my career. It started out with two days with Mark Caldwell, focusing on mapping the foot and biomechanics. Then a day of travel to meet Dusty Franklin and teach a three day clinic on AFA and AWCF certification. I was a student early in the week with like minded Farriers trying to improve our skills for the betterment of the hor...se. Then the last part of the week as a teacher wanting to bring a group of like minded Farriers along on their journey. Then it comes to me, when climbing the ladder of success, we are all on the same journey for the betterment of the horse. I doesn't matter if we are learning how to make and properly fit a clip, or learning how to move load around the foot. What matters is, are we reaching up for help to move ourselves along, AND, are we reaching out to help bring other Farriers along their journey. Realizing there is no top of the ladder, just the journey, step by step. I love this job! Well, back to the horse. He keeps giving me a look like he wants his breakfast. See more

Thanks to everyone that showed up for Shop Night! It was hot, but we had a great night! We had people working on bar shoes, mastering the art of the clip, one was taking a shot at tong building and one did some remodeling on his trailer before getting started. Jason yang showed up from Kahn Forge with some goodie bags and hung out for a while, thanks Jason! All in all a great night, finishing up around 11:00. The next shop night will be cancelled in lieu of the annual San Diego County Farriers Association Anatomy/Dissection clinic at the Shannon Forge. Details to follow.

Before and after of a toe cap shoe. A change in footing cause too much wear in the toes of these hind feet. TS8 keg shoe modification.
