Good morning. The Tilden Park Steam Train will be opening weekdays for the summer. Starting today, June 14, and ending Labor Day, September 6th. Our hours are 11am-5pm during weekdays.
Good Afternoon, Tilden Park Steam Train will be open, starting April 3rd, at 11am. We are aware that yesterday’s post caused some confusion and this was not our intention. The rule listed on the sign above is our policy. All persons entering this facility must wear a mask at all times. We will also have a few changes to our loading and unloading procedure. All groups waiting to load the train must remain six feet from other groups. While you will still need to buy a ticket, ...your ticket will be placed in our ticket box before loading, not punched. The train has been extended to 13 open cars, no covered cars, and we will seat each group individually. There will be a minimum of six feet between each party on the train. Once seated all passengers must remain in their seat until the completion of the ride and then exit in an orderly fashion. We appreciate your Patience through this process of reopening and hope to see you all soon.
Good Morning! It is our pleasure to announce that the Tilden Park Steam train will be re-opening this Saturday, April 3rd. Our operating hours are still 11-6 on weekends and 11-5 on weekdays. Follow us this week for daily updates on our new procedures and safety guidelines.
At this time the Tilden Park Steam Train would like to extend our concern and sympathy to those who are affected in the areas in which the fires are affecting homes and businesses. It is also with great sadness that we find that our dear friends at the Swanton Pacific Railroad in Davenport,Ca. have lost structures to the fire. A few of us have volunteered there over the years and have had the pleasure of operating there. We can only hope that one day we will again see this wonderful place come back to its former glory.
Good Morning! Today we would like to show a few more pictures updating the work we have done in our preparation for reopening. The retaining walls around the platform were over 40 years old and in need of repair. Here are some photos of the new openings to the platform. They are wider and more accessible, this will help us move families on and off the train. We hope to see you all soon and thank you for your patience.
Good Morning! Tilden Park Steam Train would like to wish all a happy Fathers Day. While we are still waiting for approval from the park to open we have been hard at work improving the track and cleaning up the right of way. These pictures are from a track project we recently finished. We appreciated your patience and hope to see you soon!

To celebrate, we operated two special trains for photos and videos. Today’s video is a collection of these images. We hope you enjoy! https://youtu.be/fvbOIdlYpA0
