We’ve had a lotta great people in that kitchen, but these 3 created what was the soul of TT. Chefs Aaron, Sharon and Nick. Chefs 1, 2 & 3. Chef Aaron was a jackass, a wonderfully creative and wonderfully loving jackass. His food was always mind blowing and always meaningful. He didn’t cook to be fancy. He cooked to feed people and make them happy, and sometimes he was a little fancy He was our OG chef at BLAH and was the creative mastermind who took our sandwiches & beer co...ncept to the next level. He was chaotic, calm, firm, gentle and a pain in our asses. We loved him. Chef Sharon took the job and stepped in and cleaned up after Hurricane Aaron headed East. She was the responsible mom these crazy kids needed. She taught them how to make tasty food from the heart, source responsibly, understand why less is more, and, what most cooks don’t always get, be able to pay the bills at the end of the day. As we all know, kitchens run on some damn thin margins. When we opened P66 Sharon moved to The Park to become Executive Chef of what has become our craziest project to date. Always willing to step back in at TT to give it some motherly love by helping with costing, getting recipes back on track, training new chefs, stepping in last minute make sausages with @guyfieri or serving food to Will Ferrell in a parking structure, she would do anything for TT. The gap left behind when Sharon moved was a big one and we didn’t know who would fill it. Then Nick spoke up. Little did we know the answer was in the back making charcuterie part time. Yep, the classically trained Chef who wasn’t interested in taking full time hours because he needed time to watch baseball. Seriously. Nick stepped up and was a true chef. All he wanted was to create amazing food and teach younger cooks how to become chefs. Not just giving them directions, but truly teaching them the how and the why. And even the what if. He believed in his kitchen everyone gets to be creative, but everyone washes dishes, organizes the walk-ins and everyone takes pride in where they work. Aaron and Nick are missed dearly. They changed all of us for the better. Enough sobbing. Be safe. #riptigertiger
Tyler Childers has lost some fans for making this statement. We respect him for this choice. The choice to try to empathize. The choice to care. For every 10 fans he loses, it’s worth it if just 1 opens up and listens. Because that one becomes an ally. Cheers to Tyler. Oh, and go buy/download his new album and listen to the final track. Show him he has some new fans. The world needs more Tyler’s.
We stand with Gavin Newsom in his struggles to keep our state on the path to healing, but we need guidance from the top down. We knew our fate was sealed when 45 spoke these words. He told us we were not his priority. He told us it was ok if we failed because someone else would take our place. Well, we have 45 days, sir. 45. I’ve heard 3 percent could be lost, and you could go as high as 10 or 11 percent, but they’ll all come back in one form of another. Might be a different... restaurant. But it’s gonna be a great business for a lot of people. We’re making it easy for people look, what we’re doing in terms of loans, what we’re doing in terms of salaries, they’ll all come back. It may not be the same restaurant, it may not be the same ownership, but they’ll all be back. -DJT VOTE! CBS 8 - San Diego News Rudfords Restaurant Diner
Well this sucks. Took my last pics on the way out. After nine years, we're closing Tiger!Tiger! Covid-19 did us in.... Running a restaurant historically has razor-thin margins. Attempting to run a restaurant in the middle of a pandemic with mounds of debt piling up is nonsensical. We tried many different paths for this business over the last six months and each one took us down a dead end. With the end of our lease approaching fast, we all really believe we had no other choice. Tiger!TIger! was a special place for us. Being included on the Eater 38 our entire nine years, making the Draft Magazine's 100 Best Beer Bars in America year after year after year, going to DDD Flavortown and more. Hey, freaking Will Ferrell himself poured beers at our bar. All these things were awesome, but making all the friends was the best part. We are sad and angry and heartbroken and also, weirdly relieved because it's been so super tough and after all the anguish and stress and hard-decision making and regret, we can now make our peace with it. We will miss cooking for and eating with y’all, we will miss sharing records with all our amazing DJs, and will we miss our fantastically mischievous staff. It was great while it lasted. We’ll be sharing old pics and some occasional rants over the next couple weeks. Keep your ears on. Cheers
Thanks to everyone. It’s been fun while it lasted. Be safe.
Good morning. Rise and shine.
Meet Walnut, our adoptable cat of the day. PETFINDER PROFILE: Wally is certainly the nuttiest of the bunch. Once he's decided you're okay, he's friends with everyone- feline or human- and he even tolerates the dog when she’s behaving! Walnut loves to wrestle and play with his brother, and spring toys or wand toys are his favorites. He has a little cowlick in the fur on the top of their heads, causing a subtle mohawk, so they're both just a little bit punk-rock, which comes ou...t during their rambunctious play time! Wally is a loveable guy- he seeks his foster mom out for pets, often head-butting her while she's blow drying her hair in the morning! He's not the type to curl up in your lap, but he's certainly game for attention and will never turn down a good scratch from his human. If he's not playing or looking for attention from his humans, he can usually be found sprawled out in a cat bed, often sharing with Filbert or Aveline, and taking turns grooming his bunkmate. While they don't need to be adopted together, Walnut would love to stay with his momma and/or brother, as they are his favorite cuddle buddies! Either way, he'd be happiest with another feline friend. Age: young Size: medium Breed: Tabby & Domestic Short Hair Mix INTERESTED? I sense something. A presence I have not felt since...
Meet Julian and Benson, our adoptable cat of the day. PETFINDER PROFILE: Meet Julian and Benson! These 2 adorable tabby short hair brothers were rescued together from Tijuana. They are fostered in a home with cats and a small dog, and are very sweet and friendly. Ideally, they will be adopted together or into a home with another cat to keep each other company for the next 15yrs.... Age: kittens Size: small Breed: tabby and domestic short hair mix INTERESTED? Meet Patches, our adoptable cat of the day. PETFINDER PROFILE: Patches is a charming social butterfly and an excellent hostess. She will offer a friendly meow to anyone who walks through the door and roll on her back to show her tummy in the hopes of soliciting an enthusiastic belly rub. Good-humored and gracious, she is sure to be a hit among your friends and family... so don't be surprised if they start coming over just to hang out with her! Patches isn't all snozzles and c...aresses; she has a playful, mischievous side as well. Anything on a string or a line captivates her. (This includes power and charging cords-please keep them out of her reach!) A great family cat, Patches enjoyed "helping" her human foster siblings with their homework. She believed that the best way to do this was to lay down on their books and papers-after all, what could be more useful? Some gentle pets will serve as the purrfect reward for all of her diligent assistance, and she will let you know when enough is enough with a gentle nip. Don't worry, she still loves you-she simply is communicating her feelings! Other cats don't interest Patches very much, and her thoughts on dogs are a mystery to us. What we do know is that she loves people! Patches lived with older children in her foster home and enjoyed spending time with them. To be happy, Patches requires a lot of stimulation, interactive play, and activity; however, when she wants a break from the hustle and bustle around her, you will find her curled up in a quiet closet. Age: adult (approx 10yrs) Size: extra large (19lbs) Breed: domestic short hair INTERESTED? Available through Rescue House, or search Patches in the cat section of Petfinder.com @therescuehouse @petfinder More of a dog person? Meet Lumi, our adoptable RABBIT of the day! PETFINDER PROFILE Lumi isn't your average lop. She is just 6 months old and has a cute narrow face instead of a holland lop's round face, which gives her a unique appearance. She's a mellow rabbit that will shy away from things that make her nervous, so Lumi may not be suited for loud or high energy environments. Because she is still fairly young, she may also grow a little bigger and needs a big space at home to accommodate!... Age: young Size: medium Breed: Lop Eared INTERESTED? Fix PPP #Repost @indprestaurants Help us #FixPPP The Paycheck Protection Program was designed to help small businesses weather COVID19-related downturns. When the bill was written, we were looking at short-term measures to stop the spread. Now, the loans are being rolled out, but our restaurants have no open date in sight. This means we have to take funds to rehire staff of shuttered restaurants, only to lay them off again in 8 weeks. ... We need Congress to implement a clause that can help our industry survive - The 8 week period begins the later of: PPP funds being distributed or civic mandate being lifted without restriction for your particular city or state. You can help! Post a pic of yourself with a sign like this one, with #FixPPP #SaveRestaurants, tag your Congressional representatives, and let people know that we need action now! Encourage your followers to head to the link in bio and sign our letter to Congress with all of the crucial measures needed to make sure our industry survives in the long-term. See more
