The Beach Clean Up By: Levi Wallace Eew! Our own Ocean Beach is cluttered with trash. The Weblos 2 of Pack 863 hosted a beach clean-up At Ocean Beach on December 2nd, so the beach is now much cleaner, and the Weblos 2 can earn their Arrow of Light achievement. "I think that the Beach Clean Up will help Ocean Beach Recover from it's litter problem." Says Dean Scarda, a Weblos 2 from Pack 863, also a 5th grade student from Tiffany Elementary School. The Cub Scouts want to g...ive a big shout out to Smart & Final, Terra Nova Plaza for donating trash bags, water, and gloves. We also want to give a shout out to the volunteers who attended: Dean Mr. and Mrs. Scarda, Julian Nico and Mr. Martinez, Brayden and Mrs. Spears, Daniel Chris and Mrs. Escamilla, Mr. Garza, and finally Levi and Mrs. Wallace. All together from walking from the life guard station to Dog Beach, we picked up approximately 35 pounds of trash. That’s gotta be smellin'. This was a fun event that helps nature and should be done more often. Next time maybe you should join the fun. See more

The Starlight Parade By: Lily Hobson and Jamiya Valenciano The Starlight Parade is held every year in Downtown Chula Vista on 3rd Avenue. On Saturday, December 2nd, students from the Tiffany Safety Patrol squads were part of this holiday celebration sponsored by The Chula Vista Police Department. A banner contest was held between all Safety Patrol groups and the top three banners got to be at the front of the line. At least twenty elementary schools from the ...Chula Vista Elementary School District participated. While waiting for our turn, we saw a bunch of cool cars and there was even a huge Military truck with Santa on top of the car! Miss Chula Vista was even there in a glittery red dress. "I think it was a good experience. I liked it." said Aiden Cena, a fifth grader in Safety Patrol at Tiffany Elementary. When it was finally our turn to march, much of our anticipation turned into excitement as we took turns proudly holding the Tiffany banner. We also included several chants to show our school spirit as we marched from 3rd Ave and H Street to E Street. Led by Aidan Cena, we chanted, "When I say Tiffany, you say tigers. Tiffany. Tigers!". We also changed it up a bit and mixed in the chant, "We are the Tigers and we roar and we roar!", led by me, Lily Hobson. Our special thanks to the safety patrol members: Aidan Cena, Maddie Oani, Malia Garcia, Savannah Jackson, Jaslene deArmas, Gabriel Dorado, Gabriel San Jose, Audrey Troop, Analy Valencia, and Lily Hobson for showing the Tiffany Tiger spirit. Also thank you to Mrs. Greene, Mrs. Loyola, Mr. Carroll, and our parents for making sure that we had a fun and safe evening at this year's Starlight Parade. See more

Friends for Jacob By: David Lozano, Damian Nunes, Hernand Parubrub, and Dean Scarda Jacob is a 9-year-old boy from Maine with stage four cancer called Neuroblastoma. This cancer typically forms in nerve tissue such as in the neck, chest, abdomen or spine. It most often affects children under the age of 5, but can sometimes even form before a child is born, according to the National Cancer Institute. The cancer is usually discovered when a patient shows symptoms, like ...fatigue, loss of appetite or a fever, or when a lump is found in an affected area. The 5-year survival rate for children diagnosed between the ages of 5 to 9 years old is 52 percent.Unfortunately, there is no known cure for Neuroblastoma. This year, the doctors told Jacob that he had one month to live. His last wish? To celebrate Christmas early and to see how many cards he can get from kids all over the United States. Some of Jacob's favorite things are penguins, Minecraft, and Legos. The students of Tiffany Elementary took part in granting Jacob his last wish. Students from kindergarten to sixth grade created cards and wrote well wishes to their new friend, Jacob. Unfortunately, Jacob lost his four-year battle to cancer on November 19, 2017 at the age of nine. See more

Kahoot! In Our Classrooms By: Jamiya Valenciano At Tiffany Elementary School, some teachers are letting students play and create Kahoot! Quizzes for educational purposes. Kahoot! is a fun and interactive educational game that we play on our laptops. In the fifth-grade classrooms, this is played on "Fun Friday". During the week, students are asked to create a quiz about the language arts, social studies, math, and science information that they learned. Students ...then play the quizzes that they created. Sometimes, teachers create their own Kahoot! quizzes to review before a test or a quick quiz. According to a fifth-grader, Paulina G. in our school "It is fun and it's a competition that everyone can win at". Are you intrested? Go to kahoot.com to make your own quiz. It is also an app on the phone so you can play with your family and friends. See more

Educational Minecraft By: Hernand Parubrub, Damian Nunes, and David Lozano At Burton C. Tiffany Elementary School, 5th graders will be given a chance to use Minecraft educationally sometime in the beginning of November. On November 1, 2017, Mr. Lincoln, from the Chula Vista Elementary School District helped launch the Educational Minecraft in Mrs. Loyola's classroom. The process took about thirty minutes to make sure that all the student laptops were able to download ...the program efficiently. After its successful launch, students were given a chance to experience Minecraft in small collaborative groups. Students were divided into four groups of seven with one student in charge of creating a world. It is for educational purposes. Students and parents were given a set of rules and expectations with the use of this program. Students who do not follow the set rules will be prohibited from playing Minecraft and must write a letter to their parents explaining the reasons why they were not allowed to participate. Each world in Minecraft must be in creative mode. The students will be assigned projects in language arts, math, science, and social studies from their teachers. They have to make worlds that explain about places or things in the world or its history. The students are currently practicing and playing with Minecraft. Students can join each other's worlds and can work together on the projects. It can be fun but can still teach you about your grade level standards and show what you really know about the subjects you learn in school. See more

Red Ribbon Week Say "No" to drugs. By Levi Wallace, and Lily Hobson. ... Wow, what a week! This past week we had a thing called Red Ribbon week here at Burton C. Tiffany Elementary school. The purpose of this fun week is to say "No" to drugs. Each day we do something different and each day is something new to come and it's all to say no. "I think it was very successful and a lot of people participated in all of the fun activities." Says 5th grade student, Riley Enriquez. On Monday, we had to wear crazy socks to Sock it to Drugs. Then on Tuesday, we had to wear cool sunglasses and say," We're too cool for drugs". Then on Wednesday we had to wear a sports jersey, T-shirt, etc, saying that we're teaming up against drugs. Then on Thursday we had to wear red to simply say NO!!!! Finally, on Friday we, and my most personal favorites, we had to walk around our school track to scare off drugs. So, what a week. So, our Tiffany Elementary School has gone up against drugs, and we wish you would to. Say no to drugs.
