TDI has been monitoring the mitigation efforts for the West Mission Bay Drive Bridge Replacement Project. At the West Mitigation Site, north of Smiley’s Lagoon and south and east of Dog Beach, the invasive European Limonium (Limonium duriusculum) is being removed from the salt marsh. Tierra Data staff volunteered approximately 50 man-hours on July 6, 2020 to remove the exotic Limonium that was growing east of the designated mitigation area. In total 26 burlap sacks full were ...removed and hauled away to reduce the risk of seed spread into the mitigation area. TDI will monitor the area for new plants as time passes. Because of COVID-19, staff applied social distancing during the work and snacks and beverages were provided during break time by staff wearing masks and rubber gloves. A hand washing station was provided for all workers to be able to wash their hands before handling food.

The Ridgeway's rail is federally endangered.
Happy ending for an American coot caught in a bridge pile during construction. Thanks to the construction crew for the alert, and to our Beth for coordinating the rescue without missing a beat!
TDI supports and is a friend of the village of Dabar near the town of Purulia in West Bengal, India. We support their work in ecosystem- and community-based reforestation and food security.

A couple of bunnies moved in with Penelope (our Goat) - smart bunnies - they know Penelope keeps coyotes at bay and spills a lot of her food.

One of many friends Harry, Tim and I meet on this NRCS plot south of Needles California.
One of the survey plots Harry, Tim and I were doing for the Natural Resource Conservation Service last week. I believe this site is the definition of "Middle of Nowhere". We were a good two hours drive from the nearest person.
Our pair of red eared slider turtles in the TDI pond. We inherited this couple many years ago from a person who could not keep them as pets anymore. They have become very wild and you almost never see them. I set up a remote camera over the pond and finally got a picture to prove we still have both of them.
While doing an eelgrass survey in San Diego Bay our crew found this seahorse. Photo by Amanda Bird.
Our truck by the time we got to one of our NRCS plots last week. On the bright side - Tim got to do some awesome 4 wheel driving.
