Have you heard the saying "you can't enjoy the sun without the rain?" This is the same concept. Happiness is an emotion, not a state of being. Just as is sadness, anger, fear, etc. It is important to fully and wholly recognize and feel ALL of our emotions. In doing so, we are giving ourselves opportunity to truly enjoy contentment. #DBT #EMDRtherapy #Minnesotatherapist #Temeculatherapist #mentalhealthmatters #depression #anxietywarrior #recoveryhappens #traumarecovery #growthmindset #livingwithintention

Mind, Body Spirit. Living with intention. A Journey of healing usually includes all of the above. Staying active, nourishing your body, and working on your trauma/past/coping skills/relationships/communication/etc.. This means scheduling time for you. Whether that means meal planning, exercise in the morning, or meditation. It means being intentional with your decisions. This intentionality will not only employ important routine, but also filter through all areas of your lif...e. Suddenly, you are being intentional with your responses as opposed to reactions. You are being intentional with the foods you put in your body and the people you spend your time with. The mindset of intentionality begins to shape your existence. #traumarecovery #emdr #teletherapy #Temecula #Murrieta #Rogers #takingtimeforme #youareworthit #selfcare #selflove #intentionality #growthmindset #endthestigma #recoveryhappens #Mentalhealthawareness

2020 was a difficult year for everyone. As we look forward, what are you hoping for in 2021? What gives you hope?

This F- word is a good thing! Failure means you tried and it didn't work. It gives you information on what went wrong, what could/should change, and how it can be better. This applies across the board...riding a bike for the first time, relationships, communication, a new job, being first time parent.... Framing your failures in this way, as opposed to set backs, will shape how you view your opportunities and abilities. It will also give you MORE confidence. #endthestigma #traumarecovery #minnesotatherapist #temeculatherapist #MNlife #mentalhealthmatters #failure #recoveryhappens #growthmindset #selflove

Does Winter put a hold on your self care? Maybe you love running, hiking, going to the beach/pool, or feeling warm sun on your face. Winter can delay many of our favorite activities. I savor coffee when I'm cold in the morning. I am mindful of the soft scarf on my neck and the sight of my breath in the air. I enjoy putting on layers when I go outside for exercise. What do you do for self care in the winter?... #mindfulness #familyfirst #traumarecovery #selfcare #selflove #growthmindset #morningcoffee #depressionhelp #anxietywarrior #socialanxiety #traumagrowth #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthawareness #endthestigma

Can you remember a time when your thoughts directly affected your mood? Someone didn't say hello, our thoughts told us we didn't matter, and suddenly the next few hours you are irritable... Our minds are a powerful tool. Our thoughts directly affect our emotions and, therefore, our actions. Challenging the negative automatic thoughts we have (I'm not good enough, I'm going to mess this up, I looked stupid, etc.) is incredibly important. The next time you notice a negative a...utomatic thought, tell yourself the truth (I did my best, I can do this, I matter, etc.). We deserve to hear as much good as possible, especially with all the negative we hear from ourselves. Eventually, we just might believe the positive #takeyourlifeback #trauma #mentalwellness #endthestigma #recoveryhappens #wellnesswarrior #depressionmatters #anxietyrecovery #anxiety #positivemindset #growthmindset

New beginnings... Our past does not have to define our future. When we endure trauma, we often feel victimized, low and less than. Yet, surviving trauma can be a prompt for growth, insight and development. When we make the decision to seek out help, we begin that growth journey. That is where the new beginning starts. How long does it take you to ask for help? Help with the kids, help with a project, help coping, help communicating? We so often struggle in silence because we don't want to burden others. Time to check ourselves...people do care. People do want to help. We are NOT alone! When is the last time you reached out for help? Are you able to be present for your kids as much as you'd hope? Life stressors, trauma, depression, anxiety all contribute to occasional distraction, even dissociation (like when we drive to our destination and completely forget the ride there). Difficulty concentrating and feelings of living in a fog are also common. The above impact how we interact with our kiddos. Are we truly listening to what they say? (hearing a hour long monologue on Minecraft/Fortnite is no joke)Are... we getting on the floor to play with them? Are we asking how their day was? Pressure to be a perfect mom is ever-present for our generation. Remember it is the little things that really matter. You don't have to be the perfect cook, knit cute clothes, or throw amazing birthday parties. You just need to make eye contact and listen.... Deal with your baggage so you can be present. Don't beat yourself up when you can't. Do the best you can at any given moment with what you have. #momlife #mentalwellness #familyfirst #temecula #murrieta #mentalhealthmatters #anxiety #depressionwarrior #traumarecovery #recoveryhappens #bestlife #bechange

mindfulness /mn(d)f()lns/ noun 1. the quality or state of being conscious or aware of something.... Mindfulness sounds like a fad. However, research has demonstrated that there are clear links to mindfulness and physical and mental health. Mindfulness doesn't mean you have to meditate in a dark room, or close your eyes and clear you mind. It means you are aware of yourself. Your senses are flooded with the present. What you see, hear, smell, feel, and taste. You can be mindful while you eat, take a walk, workout, drive... Comment below When is the last time you were mindful? Has 2020 taken some of your spark? Read below for tips on how to reclaim YOU! Between Covid/aliens/job loss/isolation/killer bees/RBG/Brexit/Iowa/fires & politics, we find ourselves longing for the simpler days of Tiger King. Stress combined with limited ways of coping (I miss massages and date night!) has left us tired, stressed, overworked and underwhelmed. It’s time to take back YOU!... 1) Look at old pictures..remind yourself of you. What do you like to do, see, read, explore, eat, enjoy, listen to? Do those things. 2) Call a friend. Remember when zoom meetings were new and amazing and zoom happy hour sounded like fun? And then it became dull and too work-like...and you began isolating again. Pick up the phone and talk on it. Connection is so important to our well being. 3) Get sleep. Not that I’ve willed myself to pass out sleep. The I took time for a bedtime routine, relaxed, and am drifting slowly into nothingness sleep. It will make a difference in your energy, your mental state, and your relationships. #covid19 #mentalwellness #selfcare #traumarecovery #addictionrecovery #mindfulness #selfempowerment #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthtips #growthmindset #positiveaffirmations #temeculatherapist #murrietatherapist See more
