TODAY is World Arthritis Day. Did you know that Arthritis is the nation’s No. 1 cause of disability? More than 50 million adults have doctor-diagnosed arthritis. That’s 1 in 5 people over age 18. In addition, almost 300,000 babies and children have arthritis or a rheumatic condition. That’s 1 in 250 children. Goals of physical therapy in arthritis include improving the mobility and restoring the use of affected joints, increasing strength to support the joints, and maintaining fitness and the ability to perform daily activities. #WorldArthritisDay #WADStory

Headaches have been known to affect 93% of men and 99% of women, with two of the more common headaches being Tension-type and Cervicogenic headaches. Physical therapists are trained to evaluate and assess the various types of headaches, as well as treat using manual therapy techniques such as joint mobilization and manipulation, soft tissue mobilization, and neuromuscular re-education in order to improve your long-term quality of life. You do not have to live with headaches for the rest of your life. Go see your primary physician and ask if physical therapy would be appropriate for you. Thrive Physical Therapy will be happy to help! http://www.moveforwardpt.com/SymptomsConditionsDetail.aspx

This video shows a great bodyweight prehab routine that works on developing ECCENTRIC hamstring strength. The first rep is a pure eccentric hamstring exercise. First bridge up, then SLOWLY CONTROL rolling the ball out away from your hips. Slow and controlled is the most important aspect of the exercise. The second rep is a combined eccentric + concentric rep. The last rep is a progression where you don’t use your hands for stability, which is extremely difficult! I know they look easy, but give them a try and your hamstrings will be begging for mercy! #ThriveClovis
