This is a good day to prepare for Spring. Yes, it is the first day of Winter properly, but, hey, this IS California, light rain makes the whole world green today. We can share the warmth in our hearts and begin to prepare our garden soil in harmony with the earth; our hearts full of Spring's promise.

May our gratitude for this life flow freely, pushing back the banks of doubt and worry. On our small individual journeys let us take time to open our hearts to those we don't understand; share a friendly cup with one with whom we might disagree.

Don't mind the rain. Think of yourself like a tree or a little bush underneath the forest canopy. You welcome the rain, turning the sacred blessing of water into life and growth. The dull browns and greys of fall's passing become a riot of greens and rainbows of colorful flowers. See how the humans on their two legs revel in your beauty on a crisp sunny day.
