A Note from Shakoya, Executive Director of Thomas House Family Shelter: I am excited to take the reins of this incredible organization. I am grateful for the Board’s confidence in me to lead the mission, vision, and values of Thomas House. I am incredibly blessed and looking forward to being surrounded by the fantastic team as we continue to take Thomas House and the services provided to families and the community to the next level. Over the next 30 days, I look forward to... spending time with each team member and getting to know their personal and professional aspirations. I will also be spending time with the board members and the community stakeholder to learn more about the needs of the community we serve. I have a lifelong story wrapped in social services personally and professionally and genuinely believe that with the right supports, individuals and families will thrive. My heart smiles when the needs of others are met, and individuals can live a sustainable life. I look forward to continuing the fantastic work of Thomas House and supporting the community's needs.

Meet Shakoya, Executive Director of Thomas House! (Part 3) It has been an exciting few months for Shakoya! While she has made a professional transition as Thomas House’s new Executive Director, she has also made transitions in her personal life. Just a few weeks ago, she also tied the knot and said I DO with her husband!

We are excited to announce that Wahoo's Fish Taco has met their goal of $20,000 for their Giving Tuesday campaign, all of which will be donated to the families of Thomas House! Our kids were excited to receive their own pumpkins, thanks to the generosity of Knights of Columbus! We truly appreciate your support!

On Saturday, the volunteers of the National Charity League, Inc. visited our shelter to spread holiday cheer for our residents, by dropping off donations of toys and ornaments to decorate their Christmas trees with! Thank you for your continuous support.

Thomas House Family Shelter would like to introduce our newest team member, Delaney! Delaney is joining our team as the Director of Operations. She has several years of finance and operations experience, and was introduced to Thomas House when she volunteered at the shelter. She holds both a Masters of Science and Bachelors of Science degree from Western Governors University. Fun fact: Delaney has an identical twin!

Meet Eric, our new Academic Development Coordinator! With over 8 years of experience working with children, Eric will provide academic and emotional support for our Youth Development Program. He holds a Bachelors in Education Sciences from the University of California, Irvine. Fun Fact: Eric and his mother both took classes together as students at Santa Ana College and UCI!

We are so thankful for the support W. L. Butler continues to show for our mission. To help maintain our on-site parking, their team donated new concrete wheelstops!

Thomas House had the opportunity to meet with Carly Owens, a Public Relations expert at Experian, via zoom to discuss tips and strategies to incorporate into Thomas House communication plan. Volunteers from FOCUS Orange County visited our shelter to gift our families with turkeys and traditional Thanksgiving food items to prepare for the upcoming holiday! Thank you so much for thinking of Thomas House this season.

With winter just around the corner, the volunteers of Saint Barbara's Church collected over 1000 pairs of new socks to donate to our families! Thank you so much for helping Thomas House keep our residents warm this season.

We are excited to announce that Zonta Club of Newport Harbor visited our shelter to give Thomas House $2,500 to go towards empowering our mothers who currently receive our services! Thank you for your amazing generosity.

NAWIC Orange County Chapter #91 has partnered with Carrara Marble Company of America, Inc. to install new tile in the apartment unit that is being rehabbed. Thank you for helping to create a beautiful space for one of our families!

To help settle into their new home, our newest resident, Emily, and her son, were gifted a brand new Instant Pot and cooking pots and pans for their kitchen. Thank you, National Charity League, Inc. , for continuously supporting our families!

On Friday, Thomas House welcomed a new family into our shelter with the help of Elizabeth Cresap, who assembled a "Welcome Home" basket filled with household essentials and snacks! Thank you for helping us create a home for our residents!

Happy 6th birthday to our twins, Daisy and Jesus! Thanks to the support of Delaney and Liberty, our kids were presented with two awesome cakes with candles to celebrate their special day.
