September 1st marks the beginning of a Russell family tradition and kicking off this year's film festival is "Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2007)." A "mockumentary" that has as its basis the supposition that the world of Jason, Freddy, and Michael is real, and a budding serial killer takes a college filmmaker along as his plan unfolds. ~ Z https://g.co/kgs/G4ef2o

Nominationed for an Emmy, tonight's installment of the #61DaysOfHalloween is one of my favorite episodes from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" Hush. Though there's no dialogue for 75% of episode, it's still manages to deliver some of the most oft-repeated lines in our household for the last two decades. No exaggeration, as this episode aired 20 years ago, December 14, 1999. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0533443/

#61DaysOfHalloween -Day 25... Two Sentence Horror Stories (2019) - CW produced anthology series. Short, scary, over quick like a good campfire tale or "fun size" candy bars in the trick-or-treat bucket. Nicely done! 3.6 out of 5. Streaming on Netflix.

For Sunday's installment of the #61DaysOfHalloween, we were off to the cinema to see the sequel to the "It" reboot. Jump factor is just right. They quit right when we started to expect it, torqued us up one last time, then left us hanging there, waiting for "boo" moment that never comes. Clever. The gore is manageable, not at all gratuitous. It's still gory mind you, but easier to cope with than Saw or Friday the 13th. ... Cameo by Stephen King and some heavy-handed pokes at his writing style. I recommend seeing the Part One reboot again so you remember the details referenced in this sequel. Still watchable without it, but not preferable. Both together would make a great rainy day watch party. If you do decide to see it, bear in mind that this movie is just like King's books - detailed and long. Overall, it was a fun night out.

Well, it's a marvelous night for a moondance With the stars up above in your eyes A fantabulous night to make romance 'Neath the cover of September skies And all the leaves on the trees are falling... To the sound of the breezes that blow And I'm trying to please to the calling Of your heart-strings that play soft and low And all the night's magic seems to whisper and hush And all the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush a marvelous night for moondance Can I just have one more moondance with you, my love Can I just make some more romance with you, my love

Our next installment of #61DaysOfHalloween is a trip in the way-back machine to 1992. Starz gives this vampire / Italian mob flick 4.5 stars, but so far it's a wee bit cheesy. Review by Brad Russell "Innocent Blood (1992) A french vampire in NYC bites off more than she can chew when her taste for "itallian" leads to a run-in with the mob. Billed as horror/action/comedy it succeds moderately on all 3 levels. More impressive is the cast, a virtual who's-who of the respective genres. 3.0 for general watchability. Copious female nudity of one sort or another. On Starz or rent on Amazon."

I needed a palate cleanser after that last one. #61DaysOfHalloween Season 1, episode 5 - so far, so good.

Day 2 of the #61DaysOfHalloween Pretty gorey, not for the faint of heart.
