As quoted by our colleague Sara Leslie at Wittenberg College: "Just a friendly FYI to parents of high school seniors thinking this: 1) you’ll only save money if the gen ed credits transfer. If they don’t, you’ll potentially end up paying more in the long run due to retaking courses at your second institution because the credits didn’t transfer the first time. ... 2) you’ll have to reapply to the second institution as a transfer student which means getting a new financial aid package with potentially a higher out of pocket cost. 3) the institution moving to an online format for fall semester might already be talking about reducing tuition/room/board anyway in order to compensate for online learning. These are stressful times for our high school seniors, but remember, it’s not forever. You’re committing to a school for four years, not just one semester online."
Thinque Prep is proud to host its 6th annual admissions workshop the week of August 3 with college admissions counselors from schools around the country -- all from the comfort of your own home! It'll be an intense week in which students will be guided through the entire application process so that they can get a head start on their apps before school starts. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions; there are scholarships available for families who have been advers...ely impacted by the pandemic. Students receive the following: 1. Immersive Experience: Students will have the chance to walk in the shoes of an admissions officer for a day. They get to read through real applications and decide how to admit students. 2. Interactive: Admissions Officers from colleges around the country will be present to work with students on their applications. They will be there to tell students what to do and what not to do. 3. Intensive: Students will have the chance to work on all facts of their application and will be expected to draft a copy of their personal statement so that the counselors present can help them edit these statements.
