You know when you're watching a dystopian SciFi, and all the characters walk into a simulated environment with no fresh air, a bunch of screens, loud noises, and heaters in order to exercise ... well, welcome to the actual future. It's probable the company will, at least for a time, make a lot more money than I... ever did in this business. But, this just isn't for me. I love yoga for the presence, the connection to nature, and the community. The virtual world isn't giving me what I love. I'm not the only one, and from here I'm focusing on connecting with the parts of yoga that still feel whole, real, and true to me personally. Tonight is my last virtual LIVE class. After this, I'll continue to share some on demand content, focus on writing about yoga, and look for meaningful community partnerships to teach, study, and give back in person. Dear yogis, For an entire year, I've tried to figure out how I can help people live more presently and healthfully during this Pandemic. Truly, for a decade I've been asking that question in different ways. This weekend, I took a hike by myself and stared at the ocean. I realized: we don't need any more people trying to teach us how to be present and healthy.... We need a person who is modeling what it is like to try to be present and healthy. So, I'm that person. As we exit our physical space at the end of this month, I will be focusing on sharing my own experiences in living an un-busy life in a very busy world. Our first outdoor class is gonna be a sweet early morning flow at the Fit Garden at Beach Life Fitness Boutique. I couldn’t be more humbled by the generous partnership. OUTDOOR CLASS UPDATE: We love yoga outdoors, and we want to bring it to you. Here are a few reasons we can't just yet: - It is never legal for a private business to use public land (like a beach or park) without a permit... - Currently, the County of LA Health Department has placed a moratorium on permits for use of public spaces due to COVID. Just like you can't hold a softball game right now in the public park, you can't hold a yoga class, either. Yes, we realize some businesses are choosing to set up shop in public spaces anyway. It's a choice we've wrestled with. We've decided to do things the right way, even though it's not easy right now. We won't hold it against you if you go enjoy those classes. They look wonderful! Please just come back and join us when ... We are finalizing details to provide a safe, private, permitted and licensed outdoor location for our classes. We anticipate starting in August.
