Fall Youth Program Update We sincerely hope that you and your family are safe and well. With all the uncertainty around us today, we wanted to reassure you that Urban Workshop will be holding our popular hands-on STEM Shop Class Youth Program this fall. We have been holding summer camp sessions for the last several months and have worked out how to be safe and have fun at the same time as students learn skills that will improve their lives. IMPORTANT: The Charter Schools have... announced they will NOT pay for in-person classes this fall per guidance from the state and other agencies. As our classes are definitely hands-on and in person, we have no choice but to have families pay directly. We will accept cash, check, or credit card for our in-person classes this fall semester. To secure your seat, please contact Urban Workshop at your earliest convenience to make your payment for the fall semester by phone at 949-296-2153. Anyone already enrolled using charter funds has until 8/21/2020 to arrange payment or the student will be automatically removed from the class roster so others may enroll. ACTION REQUIRED: If you have already requested a Purchase Order from your Charter School for Urban Workshop, please reach out to them and cancel it as soon as possible. ALSO, if you are enrolled and do not wish to direct pay for the Urban Workshop this fall, please contact us by phone at 949-296-2153 or email at [email protected] to unregister your student. On September 1st we will consolidate any classes that have low enrollment. Another fun option is to purchase access to our new online video website called MakeItAtHome.net. It contains over 60 hours of video for all four levels of Urban Workshop’s Youth Program classes that we recorded over the last few months. We added links to Amazon so that you can purchase your own hand tools and materials for each project. Should the Charter Schools change course and allow funds to be used later in the semester for in-person programming, we have some options planned. For more information or if you have questions, please call us at 949-296-2153, email [email protected], visit our website at www.UrbanWorkshop.net, or request access to our private youth Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/UrbanWorkshopYouth/. We look forward to seeing you all soon in the shop! Stay safe and have fun! Sincerely, The Urban Workshop Team

Great news regarding our 3D printers. Yes I said printers. We added a brand new professional Makerbot Method-X printer and it is ready for member use in the computer lab. It has the print heads for ABS and soluble support. You can use the solution tank we already have to remove the support material. For more info on the machine go to https://www.makerbot.com/3d-printers/method/. We posted instructions for the machine and the cloud based part editor on by the machine. Check it out next time you come in. Also, we finally received the parts for our tried and true Dimension Elite 3D printer and she is back on line as well.So queue up those parts and let the printing begin.
