Big thanks to the Moonlight Chapter of the National Charity League! This team of young women and their Moms have donated some wonderful children's books to Surfing Madonna Oceans Project. Look for these and other books in our library and check out the really cool book marks they made : ) For more on the Moonlight Chapter of National Charity League: https://www.nationalcharityleague.org/vpage/index-moonlight/ Thank you Margie O'Brien Spitzmiller for making this happen!
Meet Jonathan Kardos of Homegrown Bounty Gardens. Jonathan shared a bounty of California poppy seeds with us in the Little Free Library. Those seeds have moved on to new homes, but look for more soon and now is a great time to sow some poppies in your own yard for a spring bloom! Thank you Jonathan for your support of Surfing Madonna Oceans Project and the Little Free Library. Be sure to check out Jonathan’s work at www.Homegrownbounty.com... Homegrown Bounty Gardens specializes in installing edible gardens, raised beds, fruit trees, general yard maintenance, and creating drought tolerant landscapes. We believe that all home landscapes should serve as an example of environmental stewardship as well as provide healthy food for your family and community.

More adventures at the Surfing Madonna Park...big thanks to all the community that has donated books. More great books today from Greg Knyper of North County Scuba Center!
If you don't know the amazing Surfing Madonna story and how she came to be in Encinitas, it's a really great read! Here is Mark's story... https://surfingmadonna.org/marks-story/ Mark Patterson is the artist and creator of the Surfing Madonna mosaic. Mark and his bestfriend, Bob Nichols, dressed as construction workers and installed the 10'x10' seamless glass mosaic underneath the train bridge on Encinitas Blvd & Hwy 101 in BROAD DAYLIGHT! The community embraced the art after City Council tried to deem it as "graffiti" and the rest is history....
