An election year is the perfect opportunity for Modesto’s State Theatre to offer our next free seminar about one of the best political films ever made ELECTION (Rated R), featuring Reese Witherspoon and Mathew Broderick, in a morality tale set during a high school election. Watch the introduction video now! The film will be accompanied by this introduction and post-film call-in discussion led by two emeritus professors of political science, California State University Stanisl...aus’s Larry Giventer and Modesto Junior College’s, Randy Siefkin, as well as Arnold Anthony Schmidt, who teaches Film History and Screenwriting at CSUS. Kate Nyegaard, former member of The Modesto School Board and local political activist, will also join the discussion. Alexander Payne’s ELECTION will be introduced Monday, October 26, followed by a call-in discussion on Monday, November 2. There is no charge for participation, but advance registration is required. Please note, The State is not able to provide the film ourselves.
