We are 10 months into this pandemic and I know for many of us the stress and monotony can be overwhelming. What we are experiencing is intense and the prolonged intensity can cause use to feel burnt out. Here are some simple ways we can improve our mood each and every day to keep our hope alive. This is not forever, and reminding ourselves of this while doing these physical coping skills can help us all get through this. #inittogether #selfcare #physicalcoping #copingtools #burnout #thesacramentocounselor

Reflection: This year has been challenging for many reasons, but I strongly believe in our ability to preserve over anything. Resiliency is built off our ability to see strength in even the most difficult situations. As we reflect on this past year, let’s focus on what positive strengths we have had or achieved this year. Shift our focus from the stress of this year to the blessings of this year. Although it might be hard to stay strength based, start with something small an...d build from their. Our thoughts control our feelings, so the more we practice strength based thinking the more we move into a positive perspective and shift our mood toward positivity as well. I look forward to reviewing all the lessons of this past year and growing from each one of them. Cheers to the new year! May 2021 be an even more blessed year for you #newyearnewperspective #strengthbased #2021goals #alwaysgrowing #therapy

Feeling extra grateful this year for the simple things in life. I feel as though this year has caused all of us to rethink how we live, work, communicate, cope, etc. This pandemic has made all of our lives slow- basically halt - allowing us to reprioritize values and needs. I am hopeful for what the future brings and for the next chapter, but for today I am mostly grateful. So I am taking a moment to practice intentional gratitude- and wanted to say thank you to everyone making efforts to keep safe, keep trying, keep living, keep loving, and keep believing in the good in this world #gratitude #grateful #copingstrategies #hope

Let’s all take that deep breath together, take an additional moment of care today if you need one, for whatever the reason in your heart. You’re feelings (all of the feels) are valid. When we move through the emotion and allow ourselves to feel , not trying to switch off or invalidate our emotions, then we are able to move forward with strength and balance. Let us practice true self care today so we can move forward from the tensions of this last week. #breatheinbreatheout #selfcare #wellness #thesacramentocounselor

Today and this week tensions will be high. It’s important to take extra care of ourselves and our communities. Tips for managing the week: 1) Employ extra self care, don’t skip the basics- make sure you’re sleeping, eating, hydrating, move your body if you can. 2) Connect with community- check in on each other. ... 3) If you are able to, get water and food for your household for a few days to avoid going out if not necessary. 4) Take news and social media breaks. 5) Plan to read a book or watch a movie or show that is not related to the election. 6) Pray, cast spells, set intentions, hold onto radical hope. #electionweek #election2020 #selfcare #communitycare #takebreaks #radicalhope #intentions #checkonyourfriends #mentalhealth #repost

At both times of the year, the solstice is a celebration of light, life, and the completion/beginning of a cycle. These astrological events correspond with our own natural rhythm and the rhythm of nature. The winter solstice marks the return of light from the longest night of winter and the summer solstice marks the culmination of light and the most energetic time of year. During this time, the sun brings high energy, light, and warmth into our lives.... How does the solstice effect you? #summersolstice #selfcare #lifeisenergy #fillyourcup #individualtherapy #mft #sacramento #thesacramentocounselor

Coping during Shelter In Place orders can be challenging, but here are five tips to help bring mental wellness to your home. ... 1) bring nature into your space- we all can’t go outside, but if you can, please do. Being outdoors is a significant part of mental health. For those who can not, consider opening windows and investing in house plants. 2) set up a routine. It can be hard to motivate ourselves when every day seems like a weekend. But setting up a daily routine (including self care) will help keep yourself engaged throughout the day and week. 3) move your body. It can get easy to spend all day in one position, but movement is a key part of health. A walk, run, stretching, at home work out, or dance party with your kids are all ways to keep your body moving daily. 4) find some quite self reflective time. Meditation is not always possible for everyone- but finding some quite time for yourself can be. This time doesn’t have to be long, it could be the length of a shower. It can be good practice to carve out time just for yourself where you can be focused just on yourself. Take a mindful shower, take a nap, do some ventral yoga, journal, etc. 5) contact your support people- use face to face video software to see them or simply call them. Keeping in touch with your loving supports might be challenging but it is impatience to your health. We are all social creatures and we require other people in our lives. Make sure to talk to your supports regularly. And always remember, this will not be forever

Happy Earth Day! Go outside and enjoy the planet we all love on * during this time of #shelterinplace we can all start to feel overwhelmed with different emotions. Making sure you take care of your #mentalwellness is important. Yes binge watching shows and movies can be a fun distraction, but mixing up your #selfcare can be imperative in keeping yourself healthy. Try going on walks in your neighborhood or local park, sitting outside for a meal or during a zoom meeting. Enjoy the beauty and change of scene nature has to offer. It’s amazing what our home has to offer!* : @heyhails #thesacramentocounselor #earthday #earthday2020
