When savings related to healthcare are included, total savings can exceed costs by a ratio of 12 to 1. Major savings to the individual and to society also stem from fewer interpersonal conflicts; greater workplace productivity; and fewer drug-related accidents, including overdoses and deaths. Addiction does not judge, it doesn’t discriminate, it doesn’t deny you, and it doesn’t talk back. It does not care if you are old, young, middle age, a mother, ...a father, a brother, or a wife. It is always there for you, it blinds you, and it makes you think things that are not true. Just when you think you’ve beaten addiction or have taken control of it, it will rear its ugly head somewhere in the weakest part of your life and remind you that it is still there waiting for you to come back. For most people that suffer from addiction, it is a daily struggle to stay away from the drugs or behavior that has chained them. Just as they went to great lengths to get high, they have to go to great lengths to stay clean. Addiction is a progressive disease that eats a person down to their soul.
