Iwire GC to GD Connector Bracket in titanium. The basis of the design came from iWire zoo put their logo on it. It’s not a part they make. I just drew it up in CAD, embellished a bit, waterjet it out of grade 2 titanium and took a torch to it. Another attention to detail piece. This is the carbon pull knob used to open a valve to allow hot coolant to pass through the heater core and cause the blowers to blow hot air. A small attention to detail piece. These are the wiper switch cover and angle sensor cover. I also made the bracket out of 5052 aluminum. The cool part about this piece is that it was used from the S6 WRC car (the last GC platform) all the way through the GD WRC cars...for those of you telling me to make some GD pieces. Forged carbon s6 vent. Clever marketing from whomever created this name. This part was created with chopped carbon remnants and carbon roving. The customer ordered a fiberglass set and I didn’t think I had enough fiberglass on hand to finish the set so I improved...i figured the customer wouldn’t mind having a unique carbon set. They’re getting wrapped anyway. This should save a bit of weight. The spline and hub mount are Prodrive WRC, welded to a chromoly tube, with a dry carbon tube. Tube is primarily uni for weight w a layer of 2x2 twill on the outside for aesthetics. Overall weight: 2lbs, 13oz (1.276kg) vs all chromoly at 4 lbs, 7oz (2.01kg) vs OEM at 10lbs, 14oz (4.943kg). Rear interior quarter. I’m trying to get the rear interior of my car buttoned up so I can get my seats back in and work on the front. Tooling is high temp like my other molds, so eventually Ill crank out a prepreg (dry carbon piece). These will be available for sale when I do the other side. Other notes: I modified them to where I can trim them for stripped interiors or cars w full interiors. If you put an oem piece in there without al the other plastic bits, there is an annoying gap, so that should be gone. Posted @withregram @david_dtp_rally The ALS switch that someone fitted to Graeme’s N12 before we got the car has always bugged me as it looked totally wrong. Luckily Trey of @bakemono had the thought to remake the anodised bezels in both red and blue to suit both the GPN and world cars which was the ideal solution for making this nasty addition look much better. Unfortunately someone drilled a... massively oversized hole for the switch so I had to make some carbon washers but it’s still a big improvement. Just popped this out of the mold. It’s a 99 WRC door card. I had to make a small modification (lower right corner) for relief to clear my sillbar since cage rules have come a long way since 1999. The modification is just an insert in my mold and will not be a part of any for sale door cards unless requested. For whatever reason, I really like doing these comparison shots. It shows the evolution of how the Prodrive engineers progressed. The latch assembly is less janky and firmer control one genera. Air flow is more direct to the vents so there is likely less internal pressure on the internal vent housing. That’s all I can really infer. I thought this was an interesting comparison. On the bottom is the hydraulic handbrake handle used in the 90’s from the group A cars to then s5, and on top is the car used in the 2000’s from the S6 onwards. There are a lot of interesting differences in geometry, construction techniques, and design choices that I’m mostly able to see because my handle is broken and I learned a lot from looking at the plies and how the bobbin is inserted. Carbon S5/S6 roof scoop. This will not work plug and play with an OEM type R/RA roof vent. It’s really designed to work with the roof vent flap I posted in a previous post, but some have modified/chopped their RA vents to work with this. It is lower profile and more contoured than the ones that plague eBay and most sites claiming to sell a wrc scoop. There is an alignment recess on the bottom that the wrc roof vent snaps into....shown in the second pic. Roof vent part 2 of 4. This is the inner vent, air-diverter piece. I made it carbon Kevlar to match the inside of my roof. It’s a blue and yellow Kevlar. I was originally thinking omg it’s so SWRT! ...but it doesn’t pop like that. Latch is currently aluminum and stainless but I want it to be all titanium...just because I’m stuck in titanium at the moment and think I still have some 3/8 stock I can use. Part 1 of 4. I got tired of trying to find this part so I made one. This is the wrc roof flap for an s5/s6. I machined one latch already but I think I want to do it in titanium. I’m not sure about the roof flap hinge. The wrc car used this weird rubber flap as a hinge. Looks janky to me. I may opt for a stainless flange over the rubber piece shown. Just popped this out of the mold. Wrc mirror housing. Not that it was required but I tried out a new process in an effort to make life difficult, improve the cross-linking of the polymers in the resin and get more consistent resin flow in the infusion. I may write a white paper on it later but it involves infusing heated resin into a heated mold, and then running a cure cycle in the oven. It requires knowing a little about the chemistry of the resin or inferring it through ex...perimentation. I really doubt I’m the first by any means but I didn’t borrow the technique. Work in progress on a grille mold I’ve had on the back burner for too long half-prepped. I wanted to get this done before I knocked over the prep and had to redo it all. Sprayed the cage for the most part. I’ll do the floor next. My reasoning for doing the cage first: 1) I have to crawl through the car to get to all of it 2) if I did the cage second I could get overspray all over the floor since the cage is higher than the floor. I’m sure some creative game plan could have gotten it all done at once but this is how I did it. Took the day off on my birthday yesterday and made myself a present: a swanky prepreg/dry carbon bracket for the haltech to be able to mount it in the stock ecu location. Hardware is titanium because....why not? I used up the last of the prepreg I had on hand. Finally got the SE37K’s on the forester. Turns out they don’t fit w brembos so I needed spacers, extended lugs, etc etc, which was a bit of expensive last minute scope creep. 22b vents...rev 2. Better mesh mounting. I still need to manually machine the slots but am working on integrating it into the injection molding tool. The factory attempted to do the slots themselves but they all need to be re-machined, which is pictured here.
