To the greatest fans, Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your phone calls, emails, messages and comments these past few days. We are overwhelmed by the... response of us closing has brought, and we are loving the wonderful stories and memories you have shared with us so far. We are extremely touched that we have played such a big part in your lives, and we - like you - are so sad we cannot continue to be a part of your life, and in many cases, your children's lives. It has been the greatest honor to serve you and to have meant so much to your families. We also want to apologize for any less-than-stellar experiences you may have had with us in the past few days. We honestly did not anticipate the flood of phone calls we've been receiving and all the orders you are placing. We have received an unprecedented influx of orders these past few days and have been trying our best to fulfill as many orders as we can as quickly as we can. Please be patient with us as we bake more cakes than we ever have while being this short-staffed. Our baking facility is working 18 hours days to fulfill all the orders that have already been placed. Going forward we will only be able to take orders for our most popular cakes: Chocolate on Chocolate, Chocolate Rum, Chocolate Mocha and Carrot Cake. Our first location in Palo Alto opened in 1980 and since then our small... business had expanded to Santa Clara, Saratoga, Fremont and most recently Sunnyvale in 2015. It has meant the world to us that you have loved our cakes and freshly baked goods, and have chosen to celebrate your birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and just normal-old Friday nights with us. From the very beginning we set on an uncompromising path of high-quality baked goods. Real butter, true vanilla extract, gourmet chocolate, flours and sugars. Each item always made in-house, from scratch, without any preservatives, artificial flavors or artificial colors. No cut-corners. It is on this uncompromising path that we have tried to endure the continual rising costs of doing business in the ever-changing Bay Area, while batting a severe shortage of skilled employees. We have stayed true to our commitment to excellence, to creating breads and pastries for the discriminating palate and our refusal to lower our quality and standards has resulted in an unsustainable business model in Silicon Valley. Our last day of business will be August 24, 2019. This decision was a painful one to make but we will never forget the times that we shared here and the friends that we have made here.
