The Precedent

Congratulations to 3Ls Alfonso Maldonado and Cristel Martinez, the first pair of Western State law students to argue before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, ...as part of the Immigration Clinic's Ninth Circuit Project. They were supervised by Professor (and Western State alumnus) Andrew Knapp. Alfonso previously was a member of the law school's Honors Moot Court team, and Cristel received the Best Oralist award during the 1L Moot Court Competition. Both are also past recipients of the OC Hispanic Bar Association's Wally Davis Scholarship, and both previously represented clients as participants in the WSCL Immigration Clinic.

This May, Michele A. Dobson (Western State Class of 1997) will be honored as a California Conference of Equality and Justice Humanitarian (CCEJ). She has also ...been honored as the Soroptimist Woman of the Year and Press Telegram Newspaper Woman of the Year, all in the area of Public Service. See more

On April 22, Adjunct Professor Neil Pedersen (Western State Class of 1988 | Hall of Fame | Dean’s Counselor) participated as a panelist at a workshop at UCLA L...aw School entitled "The Nuts and Bolts of Opening and Maintaining a Law Office." Professor Pedersen spoke about a variety of subjects including the decision to open a firm, impediments to expect in the process, business development, and maintaining work-life balance when running a law practice.
