Another busy day at www.theped.com yesterday. Many found exactly what they were looking for and we could not be happier. Welcome to #bikelife to all the people who have discovered cycling and welcome back to the many who had put cycling to the side. It is a perfect time to buy that new bike you have been thinking about, the weather is great and the lines at the bike shop have gotten shorter. Come on down! We are able to do more repairs as well so expect that call if you are on the wait list! Feliz Día de Muertos

Rosie the Rider. She Can Do It!!!! Rosie is now balancing on her own! Kids pick it up quick so give them the best chance at riding: BUY A GOOD BIKE! People tell us that a new bike from the bike store is too expensive and they go to a big box where a BSO is assembled wrong and expect their children to have a good experience learning how to cycle (if you buy a department store bike look at it and make sure the fork was not put on backwards.) Another thing you could try is to get on that bike yourself and go down a steep hill!!!! Our answer is BUY A NEW HIGH QUALITY BIKE, if you can't afford one then find a used bike store quality bike. Bike store bikes are made super tough and used ones usually have tons of life left in them. And, we sell used bikes too! We take trade-ins. Electra Bicycle Company is sending us some real colorful bikes right now and it is a good thing as they are arriving in time for The Holidays! Come in soon and get a bike that will free your kid from a life of indoor gaming! Outdoors is the best place to be and The Bay Area is the best place to be outdoors! We are getting items in every category almost every day. It is a struggle but so far so good. It takes feet in motion, hard work and coordination. Companies like Reddaway Trucking are a big part of the puzzle. Without feet on the ground and rubber on the road to make those products come to your local retailer there would be nothing on the shelves. We are putting our hands in motion too, more tune ups less excuses, I PROMISE! #gettowork #gobybike Bikes Not Bombs

There is a hot dry wind blowing over The Bay Area and no it is not coming over the air waves! The wind today is called an off shore breeze and it happens rarely around here but when it does it makes for some bad wildfire conditions. Look at the first photo and see Tanya's beautiful Specialized Bicycles Diverge bike and some very dry hills. The exotic annual grasses die off every summer and make some super charged tinder for wildfires. They add to our woes so get out there and clear some defensible space and when the space is clear plant some Native Here Nursery plants! California native grasses are perennial and do not spread wildfire nearly as easily as the invasive annuals. And, since they attract more native animal species native grasses make it more fun to WATCH THE GRASS GROW! #iamspecialized

Is there one thing that makes me more excited about selling bikes than anything else? No, but, seeing a first time cyclist get a brand new bike, OR, seeing someone get back into the activity they love so much is a real satisfying experience. First photo: this guy used to ride all the time and now he is getting back into it. Like so many people one of the motivating factors is to loose weight and, if you stick with it, CYCLING CAN DO THAT! It isn't a " get skinny quick" scheme... but there is no better way to go out, have fun, get exercise, commute, have fun AND LOOSE WEIGHT! #gobybike #iamspecialized Specialized Bicycles PeopleForBikes.org Bicycle Trails Council of the East Bay - BTCEB.org See more
