FOR THE SAKE OF PUBLIC HEALTH... In an effort to help stem the spread of the Coronavirus, the New Parkway will shutter its doors starting tomorrow for at least a month. This seemed like a very difficult decision earlier this week but the totally obvious one right now, and speaks to the quickly changing-nature of this pandemic. I want to thank many of our patrons who chimed inon both sidesabout our hope to stay open, and to apologize for any role we may have played in conti...nuing the spread of the virus. For a business that prides itself on being open 360+ days a year, the impact of this closure will be significant, even if tiny relative to the millions of people who will lose their lives. In addition to the community impact, closing the theater will be very hard for our hourly staff and for the business as a whole, especially if the closure lasts for more than a month. While our reserves are not large, we are committed to keeping all of our employeesassuming good health and that they want to continue workingon their regular work schedule for the next two weeks, just so that they can pay rent and keep food on their tables. And we will support them as much as possible in various other ways during the time that we are closed. And we’d love your support! The following is a list of things that you can do to help keep a theater you love above water: Buy Gift Cards and Movie Tokens! Buy an Annual or Lifetime Pass! Support our Kickstarter! We’ll be launching a Kickstarter in the next few days to help support our staff and tackle some facility improvements during our closure. We’ll send out a separate newsletter about this once it’s up and ready to go. Volunteer! We will be taking on a limited number of volunteers over the next month to help with painting, building tables, installing flooring, fixing stuff, and maybe even some more clerical tasks. No experience necessary. Email [email protected] if you’re interested in helping out. And most importantly, when we roll out our schedule for reopening, please buy tickets! Buy them in advance, buy them day of, but please buy them and come out! If we’re able to survive the closure, we want to be sure to come back strong, and would be happy to hear your programming recommendations at [email protected]. NOVEMBER IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER, AND WE'VE GOT A FEW SURPRISES! Please vote! As if the election is not enough, we've got even more: Crates are still available for this Friday, both standard and last-minute!... For anyone ordering a crate in the first week of November and picking up in person, we're going to throw in one penny beer. So bring a penny and a growler, carry-out bottle, or enjoy a pint with us. No matter how the election goes, you're going to need a drink. This is aged (not near beer by now, but it's still cold and it will still get the job done! We're only doing one delivery day during the week of Thanksgiving--Wednesday--but we're going to offer two crates: the standard fare and a special Thanksgiving crate.
