Did You Know? The City of Big Bear Lake has a #BermReduction service for ALL City residents! There have been a few posts lately about the delay/lack of berm reduction after this last storm so thought I'd help clarify the actual policy.... Berm Reduction: Begins only after all maintained public streets have been made safe for travel Begins when additional heavy snowfall accumulation is not anticipated May not begin for several hours after snowfall starts/ends Will not completely eliminate the berm Will be provided for driveways identified by unobstructed #brightorange snow poles No registration needed! All you have to do is purchase a set of poles from City Hall, Butcher's Block or other hardware stores, and our City crews will do the rest. I also learned a new word: A berm = A #windrow of snow left over... Businesses and houses registered in the #TPHR (short-term rental) program are not eligible. Very ready to ring in the New Year! While Greg and I won't be throwing our usual #LasVegas style party tonight (HA!), we will at least open a window to let 2020 out and 2021 in. For our neighbors and visitors in #BigBearLake tonight, our City Tourism Mgmt Dept sent a strong reminder on Tuesday to all vacation rental owners and managers. Some excerpts:... This is your opportunity to illustrate that tourism can take place safely and responsibly, without putting our community at risk. There is no excuse for mixing of households or hosting house parties in our community. Please know that our Code Compliance Officers have been directed to issue a #citation for every violation they observe. We have evicted four groups of guests for violating the single immediate household only rule. If we observe the mixing of households, we will require you to #evict them. Fines for violating the Governor’s Order are $1,000.00. So #NOParties. And #NOFireworks. Please help by reporting any violations to Code at 909-866-2633 or the Sheriff at 909-866-0100. Just a morning selfie after clearing our Bob! When Greg and I heard about Big Bear Fire Department's Adopt-a-Hydrant Program in 2017, we immediately registered, named, and welcomed the nearest hydrant into our family. He offers us protection throughout the year and we in turn provide him with brush clearance and snow removal. He's pretty low maintenance... really only needy right after snow storms. Snow, snow, snow! Lots of fluffy white stuff out there today, and the City of Big Bear Lake crews are working hard to keep our roads clear. Crews have completed the first pass of plowing through the entire City, and will soon begin the second pass, with berm reduction work beginning later tonight. Unless things change for the worse, crews expect to complete the second pass through the entire City later tonight, and complete the berm reduction work by about this time t...omorrow.
