It’s Blanket cleaning time! Let me do the dirty work. Blankets washed, repaired and packaged for easy summer storage. I am at the drop off and pickup location every Saturday morning from 9:30-12:00 in the parking lot of Sierra Vet Clinic. The address is 17787 Sierra Hwy, 400ft west of the old store location. You will drive up into the upper parking lot that is to the right of the building. I will be up there. My car, a Mazda Tribute, is marked. It has been a long transition but THE MANE THING is finally organized and ready to handle all of your Blanket cleaning/repairing - Leather cleaning/repairing and all types of Tack cleaning/repairing. I no longer have the store front location since I do the work at my home. My house is not conveniently located, so my friend and excellent small animal Vet, Dr Ron, at Sierra Vet Clinic has graciously offered his upper parking lot as a drop off/pickup location for your convenien...ce. I am there Saturday mornings from 9:30-12:00. Items can only be brought to me at this time. Please do not take anything into the Vet. The address is 17787 Sierra Hwy in Canyon Country. A sad ending to routine horse care that could have been prevented by a simple change of method. Recently a 5 year old promising TB gelding was given his annual vaccinations intramuscular in the neck triangle by a Veterinarian. The next day he started exhibiting coordination problems. One of the vaccines had accidentally been injected into a nerve. After weeks of treatment, the neurological problem became worse and the horse had to be euthanized. The lead Vet at the hospital where the horse was treated has seen this before and recommends that intramuscular injections should always be given in the large rump muscle. If you give your own vaccinations, use that rump muscle. If you have them done by a Vet, ask them to please inject into the rump and hopefully avoid the same heartbreak that this teenage girl had to go through.

A great big THANK YOU for all of your help in locating Bella and her palomino stablemate that were missing from Distant Dreams Ranch after being evacuated during the Tick Fire. They are both home and happy now. The horse community is wonderful. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!

LATEST UPDATE - Sad to say this bay mare is not at the ranch that we were informed had her. Bella, the bay mare is still missing along with a young Palomino mare. PLEASE, keep a lookout. Anybody that was at Distant Dreams helping evacuate horses, do you remember any faces or rigs of people helping that are not part of the ranch? VOID UPDATE - Bella has been located at a nearby ranch. Thank you everyone for all of the help. This horse was evacuated last night , October 24, from Distant Dreams Ranch on Sierra Hwy and the owner has not been able to locate her whereabouts. She is an older bay mare named Bella. Please share or let me know if you have any information.

The Mane Thing Update: Getting closer to actually settling in at my new location. Remember that I no longer do the retail sales other than some nutrition products. I only do the blanket, tack and leather, cleaning and repairing. The building part where I will be isn’t quite ready yet, so I have been meeting people in the parking lot there on certain days and times for drop off and pickup of items. The new address is 17787 Sierra Hwy (the old Adobe Vet building). I will be ...in the upper parking lot to the right of the building. Please DO NOT disturb Sierra Vet Clinic. DO NOT park in front of the Vet’s building - only park in the upper parking lot. DO NOT take anything into the Vet. You can only bring items when I am there.
