Starting Sunday April 12, The Lumpia Shack/ Oakland's Original Lumpia Lady will be back in the mix! We haven't been at the lake, or in night clubs and bars due to the shelter in place. and it looks like festivals we set up at every year may be cancelled :( But on Sunday April 12th, we will be operating The Lumpia Lady's Lockdown Delivery Service out of our new East Oakland kitchen! You can still get our delicious Filipino comfort food delivered to you! Check out our menu belo...w and please note that we take orders ONE DAY in advance and deliver brunch from 9am to 1pm , and deliver dinner from 5-7pm. Check out our expanded lockdown menu at The Lumpia Shack. we are excited offer for breakfast every Monday CHAMPORADO!!! the Filipino version of the delicious and hearty breakfast favorite is sticky black rice cooked... with coconut milk, sugar and cocoa and drizzled with coconut cream. its traditionally served with delicious deep fried dillis (dee-lis aka anchovies) on the top. instead we are offering a vegan interpretation with fried plantains on top. food is so important to filipinos. and in the new year certain foods take on specific meanings. we believe what we serve to our loved ones represents what we wish for them in the new year. and when we eat these meaningful culinary offerings, we believe that we are ingesting the blessings and carrying them with us in the future. noodles mean long life. don't cut them or break them. cook and serve them long and unbroken. greens mean money money money honey. eggs of course mean ...fertility and new life. don't eat eggs on New Years if you don't want to get pregnant. an over abundance of candies and sweets symbolize the overflow of sweetness in life. at midnight everyone gathered together will eat a piece of 12 different round fruits to represent 12 solar months of abundance and prosperity. sticky rice mean all these offers will stick with us through out the year. sticky rice balls or rice flour balls means your family will stay tight together all year no matter what. and lumpia? lumpia represent gold. so eat lots of lumpia for riches. we are taking orders for New Years eve and New Years day till 10 am tomorrow morning. call or text 510-355-7010 to get your lumpia in. delivery and/or pick up ends at 4pm December 31, 1919 Happy New Year everyone stateside, middle east-side, island-side and everywhere in between during this time and space we share. and when 2020 rolls in, my Filipina Diaspora Kitchen Cali-side wishes your new spin around the sun comes in with love in your home (rose tea), light In your heart (peaches), clarity in your mind (peyote), money in your pockets (gold chocolate coins), and laughter in your soul (rum).
