sm[ART]box is on @csulongbeach campus showcasing sustainable design! This reposted video from @tbmdesigns shows the new InVert self-shading window technology invented by architect Doris Sund @dosustudio. In this initial phase the passive cooling is being tested against a control. Soon all the smart material panels will be installed! #smartboxcsulb is a two-year project that unites art, science, and design on #CSULB campus, curated by Kristina Newhouse. A repurposed 20-foot ...steel shipping container sparks our imaginations with impactful building innovations and kinetic technology. The Museum embraces this project's multidisciplinarity and ingenuity. Future programs will prompt discussion of an integrated and sustainable future. Standing apart from other smart technologysm[ART]box tracks the sun and responds to the changing temperature of the airall without computers or human intervention. Besides its impressive passive technology, the structure expands thinking about the function of materials, our environmental experience and even our sense of time and space.
