At The Hearing Solution, we don’t believe there’s a single best hearing aid on the market. But there is the best one for YOU. And our goal is to help you find that solution to ensure you enjoy the highest quality hearing experience in all environments. We accomplish this by guiding you through a comprehensive diagnostic hearing test that helps us identify the exact type, cause, and scope of your hearing loss. These evaluations inform our hearing aid selection process sinc...e every solution has its own strengths and weaknesses. Finally, we have you test drive your hearing aids at home typically for 7 to 10 days. If the results aren’t sufficient, we then repeat the above steps until we help you find the perfect match. Give us a call at (916) 646-2471 to set up a consultation and find the best hearing aid for you.

Tinnitus is the perception of a sound without an external sound source and is most often described as a high pitched ringing or buzzing. It can make life's simple pleasures hard to enjoy. The condition actually originates in the area of the brain responsible for processing sound. When one is no longer able to hear that frequency, their brain works overtime to fill in the gaps. Most people experience some type of high-pitch ringing in their lifetimes usually after attending ...a loud concert or operating heavy machinery. "Many Americans cope with high levels of stress, which is linked to a variety of health problems. Long-term, the physical changes from chronic stress can even trigger hearing loss." https://bit.ly/2SAWtKn
Have you been thinking about possibly buying hearing aids? How will you choose a provider? Look for a Doctor of Audiology versus a Hearing Specialist or Dispenser. There is a significant difference in education and this will greatly influence your outcome. A hearing device is an investment in your health, cost, time and can make permanent and lasting effects on your hearing and the clarity of speech. We have found that when patients have gone to a big box store, purchased hea...ring devices online or at a discount, they were not receiving the right amount and type of sound. They ended up not wearing the devices and the changes they experienced were irreversible. Want to learn more about hearing aids? Give us a call at 916-646-2471.
If you regularly follow our blog, you’re probably already aware of the well-established link between hearing loss and dementia. As we grow older, we gradually lose our ability to hear. And this places greater strain on the auditory centers of our brain forcing us to work harder and harder to hear the conversations happening all around us. This extra effort inevitably leads to cognitive decline, fatigue and stress all of which are high-risk factors for dementia. The relationship between hearing loss and dementia is well-documented. But only recently have researchers started to take a more active interest in studying this link in greater detail. See the research details and other info here: https://bit.ly/2PVnWWR
Even after being tested and fitted for hearing aids, it can take anywhere from 4 to 20 weeks for the brain to adjust to the new audio input it receives. This adjustment period is 100% natural similar to how you need time to grow accustomed to a new pair of shoes or reading glasses. However, progress is often slowest when conversing with your frequent communication partner (FCP) whether it’s a family member, coworker, roommate or best friend. And it can be extremely frustr...ating that the one person with whom you communicate most is also the one person whom you initially understand the least. There is no set formula that works in every situation. But below are some best practices that can help you and your FCP communicate with one another more effectively. - Remove all distractions - Focus your thoughts - Make eye contact
When sufferers struggle to make out words or process conversations, they often have to invest more cognitive effort to understand what is being said. And this places an unnecessary load on other regions of the brain specifically those responsible for memory. This explains why the cognitive symptoms of hearing loss are sometimes misdiagnosed as dementia. The more one struggles to process sound, the harder it becomes to recall basic details like names and dates and times. S...o how do you know if you’re suffering from memory loss, hearing loss, or a combination of the two? The short answer is you get tested.
"Up to 53 million people worldwide live with severe to profound hearing loss. Hearing aids work well for many people, but are not always adequate. Fortunately, there is another option: Cochlear implants" https://bit.ly/30OwqUp
