The space next to Guitar Merchant has been rented and they are doing work to prepare it for the new tenants. There was a guy working alone installing new electrical connections and singing very loudly. He had a small boom box and was happily singing along with the music. He was singing so loudly that we could hear him through the walls. It’s funny how we sing or play music when we are alone. Like singing in the shower, you are more free, your creativity expands and you a...re able to open yourself up. With practice, we are able to perform for an audience in the same way. We learn to channel the energy from the audience and use that energy to reach deeper inside of ourselves and let our creativity reach new heights. I always tell people that ask how they can feel more at ease performing for an audience is to play out as much as they can. The more you do it, the more at ease you will feel and the more you learn to use the energy from the audience to create a more meaningful performance. The best part of my day is driving home and listening to music in the car. I set the I pod on shuffle and hear songs I have not heard in a long time and get a smile on my face remembering how good they were and the memory of hearing it for the first time. Even more fun is learning to play a song you love and getting it and hearing that song you love now coming through your hands and out the instrument. Music is such a great therapy. Inspire someone today. If we connect with one person every day and inspire them on their way of fulling their dreams, then we have made the world a better place. A young man came into the store yesterday with an electric guitar he had gotten from his sister; it had a broken string and needed some TLC as it had been not played for some time. I replaced the strings and cleaned it up and while doing so talked to the young man about music and guitar players. I finished the ...guitar and plugged it into an amp connected to some effect pedals. He started to play while turning on different effect pedals. He really got into it and left with a smile and said he would be back. I thought how wonderful it was to be able to inspire someone. It is always fulling to watch someone play a song and get a big smile on their face and share with them the accomplishment of doing something they have wanted to do for a long time.
