Language People, a California interpreting company is donating free interpreting services to help disaster victims who are deaf, hard of hearing, or don’t speak English to communicate with emergency personnel during the Houston flood and hurricane Irma. We've been so busy recently with the Expos that we haven't added pictures of our travels to the United Nations in February to Facebook. We were invited to address issues of accessibility and equal rights for deaf. Lamar Stewart and Lisa Wrench joined delegates from all over the world to discuss disability access. So often the needs of deaf get ignored and accessibility focuses only on other groups. We were grateful to be joined by a deaf colleague from Ecuador and got time with other influential deaf advocates. we've been invited to come with a group to various countries and help share why signed language skills for infants is critical to the learning process of deaf children and work on programs supporting jobs and business in other countries for deaf

DeafUnited Expo - Phoenix - Volunteers Needed The Deaf United Expo in Phoenix is coming up on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Phoenix Convention Center at 100 N. 3rd Street from 9 am to 5 pm. We are currently looking for five volunteers to help staff our LP Connect booth at the expo. All Members who you sign up in the booth will be sponsored by you. Lunch will be provided. ...
