In January, the County Supervisors of Sa...n Diego voted 4-1 to lease an unused courthouse to Jewish Family Service (JFS) for a temporary shelter for migrant families, here. After moving six times in the last seven months we now have a more permanent space to welcome children and families seeking asylum. Since setting up our shelter we’ve welcomed more than 16,000 migrant individuals, mostly women and children, providing beds, food, clothing, health services, legal aid, and airplane and bus tickets to help families connect with loved ones across the country as they wait to continue their legal process to gain asylum. Helping refugees build new lives and reuniting them with their families is something JFS has been doing for more than a 100 years. Back in 1918 we offered help across the Mexican border because Jews fleeing Europe during WWI were stuck in Tijuana with no food, water or shelter. Today we continue to work with children and families seeking asylum not because they are Jewish but because we are Jewish. Thank you for your support in helping build a kinder and more compassionate San Diego."

Feeling alive and rejuvenated after spending three days with true public servants, who care about their mission and work to make their customers' experience great. These are the results of a Kaizen-driven process improvement event. "As Is" process compared to newly developed "To Be" process = 66% reduction in number of steps from start to finish! Huge labor and materials savings! Paper to paper-less! They were thrilled with the results and we met every goal of the Event to boot! #grateful to be part of effecting positive change!
