In an age of technical advances and internet dominance, is a printed newspaper still relevant? What sorts of reasons would cause an individual to choose paper over a screen? As Coalinga moves into a new era with a new newspaper, is it still important to offer the information in a tangible paper product? Considering the cost and effort it takes to provide a printed newspaper, the question becomes more than just a hypothetical prospect. http://coalingapress.org/2018/04/05/is-print-dead/

Public service announcement: By William Lewis What would you do if you were experiencing a heart attack or were involved in a serious auto accident and there was no hospital within 50 miles? This may be something you don’t think about, but if you were in this situation, time to reach medical care could be very critical. An ambulance could respond if there is one available. By Mary Blyth Jones Once again, the intersection of Cambridge and Elm Avenue saw a collision between two vehicles. Constantly crowded with parents taking their children to school, the intersection has long presented daily dangers to those traveling east on Cambridge. This same intersection was the site of a fatal accident in the past. Since Coalinga Middle School was relocated to its current site on Cambridge Avenue, there has been daily congestion at the intersection of Cambridge and Elm as drivers try to navigate traffic. By Mary Blyth Jones After more than a year of being dry, Coalinga's Sisk fountain is repaired and running in front of Coalinga City Hall on Durian Street. The fountain was a commemoration of the Coalinga oilfield water importation project in 1972 when the California aqueduct brought potable water to the city. http://coalingapress.org/2018/04/04/sisk-fountain-fixed/
