Then and now! This warm weather has got us thinking about the days when Club members enjoyed recreational activities like a circular wading pool and adjacent squash court. The original founders of the 1968 Faculty Club desired quirky details and spoofs on the notion of an "old-time" club. The orientation of The Club around the Charles Moore-designed wading and swimming pools (used as much--or even more--by wives and children as by faculty members) denied the male exclusivenes...s which has always been associated with a private club. In recent years, the pool was removed as part of The Club's expansion and renovation to accommodate a growing UC Santa Barbara campus. In its place is the west wing of the 34-room Guest House. As a nod to the original pool, architects Moore Ruble Yudell designed a circular concrete Terrace to be enjoyed by guests for special occasions. #tbt #thenandnow #TheClub50 #UCSB #CharlesMoore #50yearsandcounting #architecture #history #club #members

Dear Friends, Here I am, standing tall and holding down the fort, #UCSB lagoon-side. Although much too quiet for my liking, I am enjoying clear vistas out to the ocean, increased sightings of feathered friends, my lush lawn and UC Santa Barbara sunset skies like this. I look forward to sharing these views, reopening my doors and hearing your voices once again. Waiting patiently and hoping you are staying well, The Club & Guest House... #MyUCSB #theclubatucsb #ucsantabarbara #UofCalifornia #GauchosStayHome #StayHome #FutureGaucho #sunset #roomwithaview

Today we celebrate 50 years of #EarthDay and our recent recognition as a Green Business! On March 5, we were honored by Green Business Santa Barbara County at their Annual Awards Luncheon in Solvang with our Director of Marketing & Membership, Sara Engebrits, proudly accepting our certificate. We partnered with UCSB Sustainability PACES to complete the multi-part application process, join other #UCSB green partners and further UC Santa Barbara's sustainability efforts. ... We are in good company as we join a network of over 4,000 #greenbusinesses across California! : Sarita Relis Photography #ucsantabarbara #uofcalifornia #greenbusinessnetwork #greenbizsbc #greenbusiness #gogreen #seesb #visitsantabarbara

With the start of a virtual spring quarter at #UCSB, we are missing our hard-working UC Santa Barbara #gauchos -- some of whom will graduate this year! Did you know that several of our Guest Service Associates (GSAs) have gone on to find careers in the local hospitality industry and beyond?! We hope you enjoy this feel-good student success piece https://www.housing.ucsb.edu//club-guest-house-helps-stude
