So... this book has survived 154 years and has now made its way to my desk. It was published in 1866 - one year after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln and 6 years after the start of the Civil War. I know, in the grand scheme of things, that's not very old - but we rarely see any books older than 1890ish here on the west coast. The measurement tables are fascinating. Even beyond the fact that they are teaching beer and wine measurements in an ELEMENTARY arithmetic text book - I mean, when was the last time you used a firkin??

Purple Tier update: We have done our research and are pleased to announce that we will continue to be able to offer in-person, curb-side and local delivery services for the foreseeable future!... We are all disheartened to hear that El Dorado County is moving to Purple Tier. Although this tier is more restrictive for many businesses, the biggest change to retail is a reduction in capacity. DURING PURPLE TIER OPERATIONS: -In-person shopping is available Monday-Saturday, 10:30 - 5:30. Our in-person capacity has been reduced to 25% - which means we can have, at most, 12 people in the store at a time. This is rarely an issue, but we may need to ask people to wait to enter during peak times. Please note - MASKS MUST BE WORN IN STORE AT ALL TIMES. We are happy to provide a mask if you do not have one. -Curbside delivery is available during open hours. Curbside is great for people looking to order new books or people who have a particular book in mind. Please call 530-350-8903, message here on Facebook, or email [email protected] for more information. -Limited Local delivery is available to homes located within 5-miles of the store for purchases over $25.00. -Sunday appointments are available for at-risk and high-risk individuals and families that would like to avoid any unnecessary public contact. On-going COVID-19 precautions and procedures: -We continue to sanitize all books coming in and going out of the store, as well as any books that have been handled in store. -The Point of Sale system is sanitized between each customer. -6-foot social distancing is highly encouraged! -Hand-sanitizer locations are located throughout the store. -Masks must be worn in the store AT ALL TIMES.
