We want to celebrate and give props to the @porvidamedia media youth collective who worked so hard this year to continue their work. The beautiful Altar at this years All Black Lives Matter event was a testament to their tireless work. We are thankful for the young people who continue the Marathon. You are appreciated (in our Tupac voice) Repost from @caltradarts In light of this year's movements responding to over-policing and the global conversation on how we can disma...ntle white supremacy in all our institutions, the Alliance for California Traditional Arts calls on our supporters and constituents to learn about and support campaigns that reallocate funding to basic human needs like healthcare, arts and culture, housing, and alternatives to policing. As an organization we have made a commitment to progressing social change at the community level and to understanding how systemic racism is embedded in structural issues like over-policing and lack of investment in human-centered services. We know these social determinants of health impact the ability to lead healthy lives where California communities of color live, work, play, and create. ACTA has compiled a handful of grassroots campaigns that aim to reimagine public safety across California communities by prioritizing residents’ voices in a participatory budgeting process that divests from over-policing communities and invests those resources into community-determined services. We invite you to learn more about the campaigns in your region, as we move into 2021! Link in our bio . Photo: Black Lives Matter vigil and protest in Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights. July 19, 2020. We join in celebrating and congratulating our @the_sistershow hosts DJ Gatita and DJ Mariposa Im their new home. May they always be safe, warm, and sheltered #housingisahumanright Repost from @eastsidecafela A lot of people didn’t understand the concept of reclaiming @reclaiminghomes IS a political protest, a civil act done by political activists who believed they needed to take homes that had been taken from them, figuratively speaking. They needed to restore their heal...th and dignity that had been taken from them and their children. The people behind reclaiming our homes movement believe Housing is a human right especially during Pandemic! Thank you to all of our supporters who have either have donated, volunteered, sent prayers or even thought of us, believe it or not there were and still are a lot of people out there and in our neighborhood who don’t like the reclaimers simply because they didn’t go through the same real estate process as everyone else. In these times of a housing crisis , a ridiculously heightened surge COVID 19 and families pushed out their cars or in the streets we say fuck the real estate process, fuck the market that has historically redlined, marginalized and killed people of color, we will not stand by and allow our neighbors to suffer. This is a small victory but the fight is not over. LINK IN BIO #housingisahumanright #decommodifyhousing #reclaimingourhomes #reclaimingourland #rematriatetheland See more
