Not fragile like a flower but fragile like a bomb. She was frail but she was strong, and that was the real message. Look at how people can seem fragile, but keep going, holding to what is just and good. Look at how countries can seem fragile, but then write themselves, if only citizens keep the faith. Look at how a body so riddled with sickness and cancer can still have so much fight left in it. #rbg - Monica Hesse, The Washington Post... This Give a Tuck Team clearly has one clear mission. TUCKIN' VOTE! Do it. Are you honoring their mission?? We asked this crew to answer some more silly questions. As always, their answers crack us up! IF ALIENS LANDED ON EARTH TOMORROW AND ASKED IF THEY COULD TAKE YOU WITH THEM, WOULD YOU GO? ANNE: I would not go with the aliens.... CAITLIN: Nope- not too excited about space travel and I’d miss my family and friends. LIAT: I would go with the aliens if they were willing to take my whole family, otherwise there’s no way I’m making my wife deal with a teenage boy by herself. GLORIA: If aliens came and offered to take me with them, I think, today, I would go. How much worse could it be there!? I just might be pleasantly surprised! KRISTIN: Nope. I’m waaaaay too controlling to hop on an alien spacecraft. I’ve got questions!!! ~~~ IF YOU WERE LEFT ON A DESERTED ISLAND WITH YOUR WORST ENEMY OR NO ONE, WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY? ANNE: would rather be alone on the island. CAITLIN: I think I’d close to be alone, and likely regret it later. My worst enemy would be useless and not great company. LIAT: I’d take my worst enemy to the deserted island. Two people are better than one and I’m usually pretty good at making peace if I have to. GLORIA: If I had to be on a deserted island I would definitely prefer to be on it with another person, regardless of friendship! Barring being pushed over a cliff or fed to the sharks while I sleep, I’m sure the experience just may bring us closer! KRISTIN: I’d pick my worst enemy. There’s no one that I dislike so much that I’d rather be alone on a deserted island than with them. We can hate each other again after we make a fire, build a shelter, collect coconuts, weave fishing nets, design a water collection and storage system...

It’s a pandemic birthday of epic proportions! Happy birthday to our one and only Meghan! . Despite a really hard 2020, @meghanfabian has so much to celebrate, and spending quality time with your loved ones is always a good thing. Here’s Meghan dress shopping for her 2021 wedding, and doesn’t she look fab?! No, that’s not her wedding dress. Swipe to take it back 1 year when celebrating at restaurants was the norm. The things we used to do may have changed a bit, but it’s t...emporary. The ones we know and love are still the same. We love you, Meghan! . . #barmethodberkeley #barmethodinstructors #barmethod #barrebride See more

October is #breastcancerawarenessmonth. We know so many of you have have been impacted by breast cancer, either personally or someone close to you, and honor everyone who has fought or are still fighting. . Instructor Andrea wanted to share what her diagnoses meant for her and how @thebarmethod helped her through! (Pictured here with good friends Deirdre and Dina. We love this trio!) This is a long read but worth it! Continued in comments. . I never thought pink would be my ...color or October would be my month. I also never thought that I'd be told I had breast cancer before ever having a mammogram. Three years ago, pink, October and mammograms all took on new significance when I was diagnosed with an aggressive, early stage breast cancer despite having no family history and all the kale salads Berkeley has to offer. The morning after I was diagnosed, I was paralyzed with fear of the unknown and sat waiting for a return call from a cancer specialist to tell me about my cancer stage and pathology. As I sat in waiting limbo, I realized I could do nothing and go crazy or I could take my usual morning Bar Method class. I chose Bar Method that morning and as many mornings as I could as I went through treatment. The year and a half of cancer treatments included: multiple surgeries, rounds of chemo, targeted therapies, hair loss & fatigue. I took class on and off while receiving chemotherapy, craving my daily hour in the studio as it became a retreat from all the heavy thoughts I carried. I looked forward to the intensity of thigh and seat work, where it was all I could do to stay in the exercise and there was no room for other mental distractions. It became one of the few hours where my mind could find clarity and peace. I would leave class with some satisfaction knowing that, in those 60 minutes, I truly had done all I could to prepare my body for withstanding the marathon of cancer treatment. One morning, towards the end of an excruciating thigh set, Leigh told us to try to push ourselves a little deeper and trust that our bodies would hold us.....

Team Thigh and Mighty is coming in hot to week 2 of the Give a Tuck Challenge! We asked them a couple of questions, and we think you're going to love getting to know them better! WHAT IS YOUR MOST USED EMOJI? (Their answers are all around joy and love, no surprise.) ALLY: ... SARA: SARAH: CATHY: HELEN: WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE HALLOWEEN COSTUME YOU WORE AS A CHILD? ALLY: Snow White - the dress had a lot of volume and was so fun to spin in. SARA: She-Ra! SARAH: Mork from Mork and Mindy. I loved the show and I loved his suspenders :) CATHY: dressing as Emma Peel from the Avengers series (the British spy series, not Marvel comics). Teal and lime green jumpsuit, white gogo boots. Wish I had a photo of that! HELEN: Homemade candy-gobbling robot. The box I used was too wide, so I couldn't wrap my arms around the front. People had to slip the candy directly into the slot in the front.

The Lucky Tuckers are hoping to work hard and get a little lucky in the #giveatuck challenge! We asked: HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TOLD YOU LOOK LIKE SOMEONE FAMOUS? WHO WAS IT? DIANE: Reba McEntire (I used to have red hair but I’ve never had blue eyes).... CARA: Helen Hunt. MAXINE: no haven’t been told I look like someone famous CLEMENTINA: Rita Moreno (she’s in her 80s now - hmmm!) JACKIE: Natalie Portman (flattering though I'm not sure it's true) YOU HAVE TO SING KARAOKE...WHAT SONG DO YOU PICK? DIANE: "Summertime" - Janis Joplin CARA: Did you know that when I lived in Japan for a year, we went to karaoke bars 3-5 times a week? But, I’ll say "Eternal Flame" or "Good Riddance (The Time of My Life)" MAXINE: How Deep is Your Love The Bee Gees CLEMENTINA: "It’s a Wonderful World" So fun to sing with Louis Armstrong! JACKIE: "Let it Go!!" . . #barmethodberkeley #barmethod

Resiliency is more important than ever right now, but it isn't a trait that's developed overnight. So how do you become a more resilient person? Here are six steps to build a bounce-back attitude.

Give a Tuck Challenge is off to a fantastic start! We have 60 challengers in total (12 teams), and there's some serious buzz in week 1. The Barbelles answered a couple of silly questions for us. Their hilarious responses are below. THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE IS COMING! WHO ARE 3 PEOPLE YOU WANT ON YOUR TEAM? DAWN: Bear Grylls (for survival), Trevor Noah (for comic relief), and Ellen Ripley (for obvious reasons).... GABRIELA: Although I can’t speak for our collective fire starting skills I’d still want my family: Dave, Isabelle and Theo with me, ( and we’ve made it through the pandemic, fires, and teenage hormones so far). ANYA: This is easy for meit would be Tim, Madeleine and Katrina! BEV: I would take my family, Lewis, Erin, and Taiye to save me, but if one of them can't go I would take Will Smith. He already outsmarted the zombies once. ALYSSA: I would want both of parents, and a personal trainer (or bar method instructor!) to keep me in shape in order to run away from those zombies!!! WHAT WAS THE WORST STYLE CHOICE YOU EVER MADE? DAWN: feathered bangs. It was not a good look on me and I won't be sharing my 4th grade class photo anytime soon. GABRIELA: Many cringe-worthy style choices to choose from but the truck-stop bleach blond dye job from 1995 has to top the list ANYA: hmmm..likely it was hot pants back in the early 70’s. Thank god that was so long ago and even my oldest friends likely can’t remember!!! BEV: My worst fashion choice was oversized rose colored glasses. ALYSSA: I once tried to dye my own hair jet black (to get rid of blond highlights I had before) and it faded and turned into a really weird dark green... never dying my own hair again!
