The Theatre at Ace Hotel DTLA

These wall talk. Painted by Jose Rivas under contract from the Anthony Heinsbergen Studio, the murals that bookend the balcony at @theatre_acedtla depict a kind of grand Old Hollywood shade, as commissioned by the founders of United Artists. Look closely to one side, and you'll find beatific portraits of UA’s founders, along with other stars of the era like Valentino and John Barrymore plus handsome nudes allegedly painted to flatter members of the UA Board of Directors. On the other, the demonic plunderers reportedly caricatures of actual studio suits from the UA team's pre-liberation days.

Making this record was an opportunity to dig a little deeper and share an important facet of who I am with the world. The process nourished and centered me in w...ays I never expected and I have so much gratitude for the chance to acknowledge this part of myself again.
