if you liked our sardines you’ll love these bad boys. monsters! literally straight from the mediterranean these delicious branzini don’t even fit on our plates they’re so big. the latest batch has been selling like hot cakes thanks to our chefs grilling these bad boys to perfection. I believe we have 8 left.. and they will be gone by tomorrow so come get yours tonight!

our newest special pays tribute to a classic dish normally made with pork neck and roasted on a rotisserie. since we don’t have either we used pork belly and prepared it in a way that captures the same flavor and texture profile and we are very happy with the results. we are going all in on classic small plates here at Athena and hope you’ll enjoy this delicious meze our on our patio during your next visit with us.

as we continue to pay tribute to true authentic greek dining, we have happily added kolokithopita to our appetizer menu. this traditional dish highlights the beauty and subtle sweetness of the seasonal zucchini. the saltiness of the feta really brings out the best in this delicious vegetable and the phyllo gives it a great texture. give it a try during your next visit with us! we’ve also added calamari and sardines to the appetizers as we feel like more smaller plates equals a better dining experience, given the abundance summer provides us in fresh ingredients. just a reminder we have plenty of space on our outdoor patio for you and your friends.. we can’t wait to see you all again

as our customers haven’t all returned back to work or to athena, the slower pace has provided an opportunity to add some new specials. these specials are in limited quantity so we are making them available for our outdoor dining customers only for now. the theme of these upcoming entrees and appetizers will be emphasizing many of the dishes we seek when we visit greece, that aren’t as common in the states. first up is grilled sardines(the powerplant of the ocean). this wild fish is full of healthy fat and delicious flavor. if you’ve never had sardines before but love seafood.. consider giving it a try on your next visit with us! keep an eye out for our next few posts for new specials we have been wanting to try out for so long.

plenty of seating available on our outdoor patio! even tho gavin newsom restricted select counties from indoor dining, athena was not affected. we are continuing to appreciatively serve guests for both lunch and dinner.. and will be open through the holiday weekend. if you do decide to stay home for the 4th we are still available for delivery and takeout. we hope all of you have a great weekend

sometimes getting through these pandemic days can be tough. as we enter summer many of us have had to cancel trips or planned special occasions. though making changes to these events we had been looking forward to can be tough, we can look to 2021 to make up for and reward ourselves for the sacrifices we’ve made to overcome this pandemic. for those of you already thinking about how epic 2021 will be.. consider a trip to greece. if you haven’t already been it could be the perf...ect time to enjoy the incredible food, rich history, and beautiful scenery. though mykonos and santorini get much of the attention and focus.. greece has thousands of islands each with their own magic. one of our absolute favorites is kefalonia; not only does it have the beaches and scenery of many of the other islands.. it also has a more traditional and authentic culture that isn’t as prominent at some of the more touristy destinations. if any of our customers are ever interested in any recommendations for a greek trio.. please don’t hesitate to reach out to us! it’s an opportunity for us to day dream about better days ahead @ Kefalonia, Greece See more

as we continue to make progress as a community through this challenging pandemic, we want to acknowledge the medical personnel who continue to fight this fight for us. along with police and fire departments, these are the professionals that continue risk their lives to ensure our safety! as a sign of appreciation we will be offering any medical professionals, police, or firefighters now through the end of the year a 20% discount here at athena. as challenging as this has been for us as a small business, we appreciate that without the bravery of these groups of amazing humans, we would not have the opportunity to make any attempt at trying to resume normal life. for all the work you’ve done and continue to do for us, the things we don’t even see you doing for the community, thank you from the bottom of our hearts

athena is proud to announce we have received the news we’ve been waiting for. santa clara county has opened up restaurants for outdoor dining we’ve been preparing for this moment for weeks, and can’t wait to see our incredibly supportive community back enjoying our food on our patio. as we have been through the sheltering process, we will be adhering to all of the county’s guidelines ensuring cleanliness and distance. our hope is that resuming dining will offer our customers even more of the return to normalcy we have all been patiently waiting for. this will be a new way if doing things for us, and we appreciate everyones patience with us as we work together to continue to provide a safe and enjoyable transition into this new phase of operation. we hope to see all of you friday!

my fondest memories as a child were my visits to my grandma’s house. we’d spend most of the day in her garden picking and eating whatever was ripe and she’d spend the rest of the day cooking for me. she made bread and yogurt from scratch, delicious top ramen soup, and if i was really good she’d make me my favorite dessert - risogalo(rice pudding). the dishes we serve at athena are prepared and made with the intention of bringing you into what our lives were like, growing up in greek households full of love. we felt that love with every meal we were lucky to share together, and it’s that experience we want to share with you. if you’re looking for a an extra bit of comfort from your next meal from us, consider giving this new dessert a try. please order some or i’ll end up eating all of them

if you’ve visited athena at all in the past 10 years.. chances are you’ve come into contact with this amazing human. tho masked these days, behind that mask is a smile that can light up the entire restaurant. lorena has been the backbone of our restaurant since day one.. and her sharp sense of humor, huge heart, and relentless commitment to our customers has always set the standard we all try to follow. these days there is less interaction with customers than we are used to, but lorena’s warm hospitality always shines through. we’re hopeful we will all be able to see more of each other’s faces, but until then.. we will be taking all the necessary precautions to ensure our customers and our community’s safety.
