Sending Love to ALL the people who have come to see the plays produced by Theater One over the past years! When our next production, "ROE" is produced (the "when: is, of course, unknown at this point) we hope to see you there! In the meantime - take care of yourselves! ALSO sending LOVE to all the actors who have worked so hard to make each production a success!

Sadly, we have decided to postpone production on Roe at Theater One. We were off to a great start with our first week of rehearsals. We hope to hold onto this very talented and dedicated cast. Everyone’s health is top priority right now! We shall return.

Theater One is very happy to announce that Hope Dennis will be joining the cast of Roe, playing Aileen, Barbara, Flo Kennedy and Pregnant Woman 3. Welcome, Hope!!

Actor still needed for Roe by Lisa Loomer. The personal back-stories of the historic Roe v. Wade case. African-American woman 30’s or 40’s to play Aileen, down to earth, working class lesbian nurse (also plays several other smaller parts). At Theater One, 2425 Sierra Blvd, Sacramento. Roe Announcement Theater One announces auditions for the upcoming production of Roe by award-winning playwright, Lisa Loomer, which will be held February 18th and 20th (call-backs), 7-9 pm in the Main Hall at UUSS. Roe is the story of the events surrounding the 1973 Supreme Court decision regarding women’s right to abortion, Roe v. Wade The show runs for the first three weekends in May at UUSS and will be directed by Lisa and Michael Erwin. Cast includes at least 8 women and at least 3 men, yet can accommodate more actors, as appropriate, since actors play multiple roles. Tech help is also welcome!

From an Audience Member who saw "Confirmation" (the current production on stage at Theater One: Just saw "Confirmation," the new play by Lonon Smith here in Sacramento: a 1st rate show with well-defined, imperfect characters who veer toward self-destruction in their romantic relationships and reluctantly reveal themselves to illuminate what love means. As summarized by the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, where the play premiered in 2016, The lawyer: a young, brilliant, courageous woman who argued Roe v. ...Wade before the Supreme Court. The plaintiff: a hard-drinking, wild-tempered hippie bartender seeking to end an unwanted pregnancy. As we know, they won the landmark 1973 case that legalized abortion. But what most people don’t know is how their divergent journeys after the case reflect the subsequent polarization in American culture. With shocking turns and surprising humor, Roe illuminates the difficult choices women make and the passion each side has for its cause.
