The Sound of Water and the Beauty of Flowers

There is something about the sound of water that calms the soul which is why we gave our community the name, the Artesian. Fountains are interspersed throughout the landscape amid pots filled with colorful flowers.

The Pool Now Centers the Community I am not sure what it is about a pool that helps dissipate the anxiety created by the corona virus. Is it the aqua blue color of the water? Is it the breeze-driven ripples on the surface? Is it the brightness created by the light reflecting off the water? Whatever it is, I find myself much calmer now that the center of our community - its therapeutic pool - has been plastered and filled with water. We are making progress!

Lights Are On! Final Preparations Are In High Gear... Power has been activated enabling final preparations to kick into high gear. The pool is receiving its final coat of plaster. Technology and fire systems are being checked and commissioned. Internet and telephone systems are being activated. Appliances are being delivered and installed. Cleaning has begun and furniture is being put in place. The Artesian of Ojai is finally taking shape! Opening details coming soon!

Construction is moving forward in the midst of the corona virus. The pandemic has not deterred our focus on completing the project. Work continues on the interiors - carpet installation and paint - and the exteriors of our buildings. Landscaping is almost complete. Metal fencing and gates have been installed. Masons have just finished the stonework on the outdoor fireplace and barbecue. What's next? Electricity we hope!

Outdoor Patio and Pool Deck are Poured The outdoor spaces at the Artesian are taking shape. The patio area and the deck that surrounds the therapeutic pool were poured today!

Monument Sign Installed The Artesian of Ojai's monument sign is in place! The sign marks the entrance to Ojai's newest assisted living and memory care community.

Putting roof tiles in place is not as easy as it looks. Each tile must be anchored by nail or glue and then must precisely overlap its neighbor in order to create a water tight surface. The tiles around the solar panels present an extra challenge to install.

Buildings Receive Final Color Coat The process of applying the final off white color coat to the buildings has begun. The mixture of cement, sand, lime and color is applied by trowels and hardens into a highly durable surface.

Paving the Parking Lot and Driveway After weeks of rain, paving is happening today! Truckloads of asphalt have been dumped and smoothed to create a new parking lot and driveway. Access to the Artesian is now greatly improved!
